I am not the kind of person which is usually offended by words, and I try to give the benefit of the doubt or at least assume their good faith because communication is never straightforward when cultural and linguistic barriers are in place.
But yes, sexism in few different forms is a significant "feature" of Japanese traditional culture and is a real generational problem. And this promotional material seems to inadvertently reinforce that kind of narrative.
It really leaves a bad taste to read such messages :/.

Where have you found such information?
I would be surprised since the last one was just a while ago and the development cycles for Ricoh are not the fastest in the industry.

Confession game: how many lenses do you have? Why do you keep them? Which was let go?

Even more. Too many considering I am not even doing it professionally :/. I played around with 4 different systems but only two are really relevant to me. I own 6 digital bodies and a film one, out of which I am only using three. I would prefer not to count my lenses D:. At least I can be proud that I have been using almost all of them :D.

The k mount design (2) from 2015 is the one I like most :). Not for me but for a good friend of mine. She is accustomed to steal my Q-S1, and I guess the irony of wearing a k mount while shooting with a q mount fits her well.

Ultrasounds out of the flash

I just tested the flash with my field recorder. There is a strong peak at 15kHz and a less strong one around 20.5kHz. Well that is what the recorder says. Everything above 20kHz should be filtered out and these measurements would be out of specs. So the peak is there but I cannot measure it in a precise way. Not that it does really matter at this point.

So any sort of in-ear filter capable of filtering out frequencies above 14kHz should work fine for me.

@kaseki: This specific model does not seem to be equipped with such kind of port as far as I can see.

Edit. I tested the wrong file as it was a compressed mp3. I performed my analysis again on a wav sampled at 96kHz. There is also a strong second harmonic at 30kHz. That one however should not affect me in any way :).

@BigMackCam: this could be a much better idea! I actually moved to England so I will have to find out how it is called here. Thank you!
@Bob 256: No, I will avoid rock exposure and just wait nature to make its own things :D. Concerts are painful experiences to me for all reasons other than music itself.

Thank you for your answers!
Well, it is quite unfortunate. I guess I will just try again in a decade; at that point my hearing should have declined enough not to bother this noise so much. Patience is one of my virtues.

Youth is quite a relative concept I daresay, but since I was born many years after the af400t has been first released, I guess we could agree :D.
I am not sure on how to properly insulate the flash itself without compromising its usability. One of the reasons I bought it over the other models is that it is more compact and lightweight. I do not feel confident that wrapping it around some phono-absorbent foam would end up being a good solution for me.

For the time being, I may just relay on light bouncers or led panels where possible. It is a huge compromise but there is no way I am going to make photography a painful experience to me since its not my job :D.

Ultrasounds out of the flash

Hi,
long story short:
my new 201fg flash unit emits ultrasounds that I am unlucky enough to pick up while charging. It is annoying, almost painful. Is there anyone else with my same problem? Have you been able to solve buying an other model instead?

I recently bought my first external flash to be paired with my pentax cameras. I never used one before and honestly I never played around that much with the ones on board. It is a 201fg and I have one big problem with it which is enough to be a dealbreaker. Ultrasounds. Now most people are not affected by this at all, in particular after a certain age since the perceivable spectrum shifts towards lower frequencies; however it is a HUGE problem for me since I have always been a little bit more sensitive than average. Basically most of the power suppliers and even some types of lights emit this super-annoying noise that almost nobody can hear but I can, just because the designer for the circuit never bothered to shift the operating frequency a little bit further. And usually people just think I am mad or the next thing I would say is that I also see ghosts and the new trilogy of star wars is not that bad.
In this case I guess the problem is the relatively low frequency at which the voltage multiplier is operating, and all the capacitors inside which enjoy to oscillate as well :hmm:.
So, I you experienced the same problem, do you have any other compatible model with pentax to suggest? I have to send this one back, but still I would like to use a proper flash in the future without feeling pain. By the way none of the onboard flashed that I had on my cameras so far shared this problem.

Thank you for your time!

11-18 and revamped 35mm F2 on january 31?

I agree with you, the 16-85 is not optically perfect; like any other lens it is the result of many compromises in its design and manufacturing process. In this case there are more compromises than for others but hopefully it is good enough for the price and the scenarios in which I'm using it :).
According to my experience, I found it quite weak on the edges, in particular when dealing with the longer focal lengths. However it comes with a great margin of improvement over the 18-55, and closing it up to f/8 or f/11 the situation gets better. Still not an outstanding lens.

I honestly have never noticed a lack of sharpeness at the centre of my 50mm and I think it is just the result of a far from ideal alignment of my ink bottles. Admittedly I am not equipped to make quantitative measurements in this respect so it may totally be the case.

You can have mine. I will let you judge on your own.
The exif data is all there. The focal length between the two lenses was manually matched. So even if it is written 53 for the 16-85, it is the closest to the 50 frame also considering the focus breathing for that focus distance. All the images were shot focusing on the cap for the leftmost ink bottle. The frame has been cropped to preserve the horizontal resolution and keep the subjects centered on the vertical axis. All the pictures have been shot on a tripod with pixel-shift enabled. The ink bottles have not been moved during the tests, as well as the tripod. I hope you may find them useful.

Focus on the D-FA 50mm 2.8 macro

Hi, I have a question about the focus ring of the pentax D-FA 50mm 2.8 macro lens.
The copy I recently bought, goes past infinity and past the minimum focusing distance with little or no feedback while manually focusing.
This does not seems to affect the focusing point.
Is it common for this lens?
Maybe is due to a very old implementation of quickshift? However none of the other lenses I have with this technology exhibit such kind of behaviour.

Thank you for your time!

I actually have a question. If I understood correctly the account had to be registered in the previous 24 hours, and there should be at least one post in the community.
From the rules: "Fine print: to prevent cheating, we will limit raffle entries to accounts with at least one post during the contest period and registered for at least 24 hours"
As long as I can see these conditions applies to me too.
However when I tried to submit my post for the raffle I got the following message "You are not eligible to enter this raffle because you did not make any posts during the giveaway period.".
So why? :)

Hi! I have been reading this forum for a while, since I started looking for vintage lenses to put on my canon.
I then switched to Pentax and I always found this forum very helpful in supporting my buys.
I am quite new to photography, I hope to learn a lot here :).
Bye!
