Many lovely photographs but are they all "panorama"? Where does wide angle end and panorama begin?

Many, such as myself, agree with you. Do not understand why they would cancel such a useful tool. My thoughts of getting a K5 II, IIS, or even a K3 have been put on hold.

Why did they suddenly drop this useful feature but yet continue silly digital filters? Did they ever put put a statement on this issue? I have been thinking about purchasing a K5 II or IIS but after discovering they had image comparison no longer my interest has wained. Do other manufacturers have the same ability in their playback menu?

Interesting? -https://www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/photography/features/who-killed-infinity-focus%3F
Also, I have guessed that the ability to move a little past the infinity mark, past infinity focus, is neccessary due to auto focus requiring the ability to go past the mark and come back. Also even manual focusing really big, long lenses being more subject to expansion/contraction causing the distance marks to become slightly inaccurate.

The K-5, K-7, K-r, Kx, K2000/km, K200D, K20D all had playback image comparison. Why get rid of it? . After the K-3, K-3II they apparently got rid of the separate AE lock and AF back buttons; newer models don't have them, do they? Two features I liked and used and they're axed.

Just my opinion of course, but I can not conceive of an exposure, of a properly functioning camera, causing the lens to stop down to minmum aperture and then back to whatever the properly metered aperture is. But you're saying it's the other way around, the lens is going to the proper aperture and then stopping down all the way before opening fully?
In any case I'll repeat, when you fully mount any Pentax lens, K or more recent, onto a Pentax camera, K1000 or later, the lens will be at full aperture for that lens. So if someone says to test a camera by looking at the lens to see if it opens up when you take the exposure doesn't make sense.

totally puzzled when Auzzie-Phoenix states "For those who do not have a lens with an aperture ring- Step 1: a.) Mount lens to camera. b.) Set aperture setting in camera to a value where the lens iris will be fairly open upon shutter release. c.) Look down into lens while under decent lighting, and press shutter button. d.) Note whether iris opens up or stays narrow.
If during your testing, the aperture iris did not widen, then you more than likely have aperture block failure. You are free to try this with multiple lenses to rule out lens issues."
How can the iris "open up" when it is already wide open? How can it "stay narrow" if it is not "narrow" but wide open? When you mount ANY K mount lens on the camera and twist it into place the aperture is wide open and can be stopped down by either enabling the DOF function on the On/Off switch or taking the exposure, yes? Otherwise we would be looking through a very dark finder indeed. If the aperture control arm inside the mount was somehow stuck in a raised position you would immediately notice something amiss when you looked through the viewfinder and see it darker than normal.

Many thanks. After reading about the problems some have had with K-50/30 I'm a bit wary. I don't think taking pictures; excuse me, capturing images; will be so much an issue for me as dealing with what to do with them post.

Big Tim from Maine, long time user of Pentax film cameras, KX, MX, LX as well s assorted med. format cameras. Now with Pentax K-50 and scared to death of it. Hoping granddaughter and Pentax Forums will help. Recently obtained the DA 16-45mm (seems to be well-liked, why did they kill it?) and DA 55-300 ( not WR) That should get me by as I wrestle with this.
