There certainly are some cross-overs between the two: lighting, focal length, depth-of-field, etc. Even post-production. I have some stories to tell. :)

Trust me, I learned a long time ago to just "wait" and let someone else be the first to get the latest gear. I wait for the sales or for used equipment! I have had my K30 for a number of years and my next goal is a good prime macro lens for it (100mm). I scour eBay now and then. And with a birthday coming up I may have an angle with my wife to go out and get one!
Otherwise I am pretty happy with what I have (and I love Pentax cameras - I appreciate how much they put into them and the feature set they provide while not charging an arm and a leg like two other name brands whose names shall not be spoken here).
All that said, a used K3ii body might be nice ;-)

Hi, everyone. Very happy to find this forum! My name is Chris and I live in Ashburn, VA (just outside of DC). I am a television director by trade but have loved photography for a very long time and it is my passionate hobby. I began with a Pentax Spotmatic in the 1970's and eventually upgraded to a Pentax K30 DSLR. (I would love to upgrade further but since I don't make a living with my photography I haven't pulled that trigger yet!) Thanks for letting me join and I look forward to interacting with you all!
