Here is example of using EV on top of K70. EV is ALL I changed and camera did other adjustments. I was shooting in AV mode and was at 53mm on both shots as you can see in photo. You can see adjustments camera made and can see the difference in photo brightness.

I think so. So what I'm seeing is what I actually set it at not what camera tried before I changed. That makes sense. Just wasn't sure. Thanks

OK here we go. Went to a Chinese light show last night at a zoo in Racine, Illinois where they darken most of zoo and bring in light displays. I will be posting the album in the picture section and I WELCOME critique of any kind. It was my FIRST experience in both night and EV control use. Using K70 with 18x135 lens. Now FINALLY for my question. When viewing picture and pull file info is this 1/40 sec. f/4.5 40mm displayed what the camera sets it at or the actual speed with EV compensation I changed too? I did attach the picture I took of entry way.

It's outrageous we even have to vote on these. How can there even be a clear cut winner. They are ALL outstanding!! No losers here.

When description says Minimum Focus Distance 11.81" / 30 cm is that from the front of lens or back where it mounts on camera body?

New to DSLR, new PENTAX K70 with 18x135 and first field trip with photography class I'm taking. Random eye of things that just caught my strange eye I know. Comments, instruction and criticism welcome.

With the quality of these pictures it's not even fair to have to vote. Great work from a wide spectrum of different photographer's views.

Bone carving

Totally knew to the digital/Pentax world. Researched and went with the K70 with 18x135 lens. I've read/own the instructions manual from the forum which is far better than one that comes with camera but nothing beats experience. Want to try my first shoot so to speak and I have a carving of two eagles, one high one low with talons sunk into same fish carved out of the lower leg bone of a moose. We bought it in a small shop just outside Denali National Park in Alaska. Talked with the carver for a great length of time and WHAT A STORY! I'm looking for advice on how best to take photos of this carving to show it's craftsmanship as he even carves a small tongue in the open mouths. Oh yeah he goes out and finds the bones himself as well. Obviously it's bone white and not quiet a foot tall. I'm thinking the darker the surrounding it, maybe even a box with black interior, flash or no flash. I'm not to proud to admit I need help. I want this to be the only thing in picture showing the respect the carving deserves. Once I'm in ballpark I'll play away and share pictures. Attached is kit I have, everybody has to start somewhere.

Yvon Bourque's K-70 Book. Is it worth it? Just my opinion.

Where can I find this book? I clicked what appeared to be a link on your post but goes nowhere.
