The lens is definitely clunky and I don't have a lens cap for it. Good news though, the replacement back cover from Erick came in the mail today! I'm one step closer to using this beast!

I was searching and did notice a big price jump between the 2.4 and 2.8. I still have a bit of time to decide. For now I'm just going to do a couple test rolls with the 55mm and get comfortable with the camera before jumping into my portraiture project. In the mean time, anyone have any good articles or personal experience with shooting portraits that they can share. Mine is more towards the artistic route and not business type photos.

Will do! The camera came with an NPC Polaroid film back that I need to change out. Luckily, I was able to get a hold of a new back cover thanks to a forum member. Can’t wait to get it switched out and go shooting!

I’ll have to do more research then and see which lens is best suited for what I’d like to shoot. I’ll def be doing full body shots so it needs to meet those needs. Thanks to those who suggested different lenses. Looks like I have homework to do.

My camera is currently set up with a Takamur 6x7 55mm 3.5. Apparently he used this camera to shoot weddings. I also want to shoot landscapes especially with the Everglades around here. What is the best use for this lens I have?

I’ve been pretty happy with their work so far! I was able to get a couple of developing trays from the lady, a 35mm tank with reel made of stainless steel that I thought pretty cool and a timer. I’ll definitely take you up on that and ask if I have any questions. Thanks again!

I had messaged the lady once I got home and asked her if she happens to stumble on the back cover to let me know. But she had a lot of stuff so I’m not holding high hopes for that. I contacted Erick and he had a spare cover! Thank you for the suggestion! I think down the road I’ll get another body to have both, but for now this will do.

Hi! There is a possibility that I may have used a roll of Kodak Gold I had in my camera bag. But I’m only using 400 film right now and predominantly shoot B&W. So there’s a chance I used it. Nice photo though :) I don’t know how to use photoshop so kudos to you!

Hi and thank you! I send my rolls to The Darkroom out in California. I am gathering the equipment I need to start developing my own film so it’s still a learning process. The Darkroom loads your photos onto their website and you can download them onto your computer directly plus they send you the negatives and a cd.

Hey everyone! I know this topic has been brought up already but I’m curious to know if anyone can help. I just got an amazing deal on a 6x7. It came with the Polaroid NPC film back, TTL pentaprism finder, Takamur 55mm 3.5 lens and wooden handle. I read that you pretty much have to buy a new body just to have the regular back cover without the NPC. Is that correct? I did not know it had this installed until I saw it in person. I don’t think I would actually use it as I have projects planned for this camera with 120 film. Is there anywhere that I can just buy a back cover to replace it with? What was the biggest reason people wanted the Polaroid other than having an instant photo? The lady who I bought this from said her husband used this camera for shooting weddings. It also had an attachment for a tripod but I removed it for now. She had a ton more gear but I had a budget and did get a few other things but she didn’t have much more for this camera. She did throw in the original case in the deal though! I plan to use this for portraits and read that a 105mm lens is better suited so I have some hunting to do. Any info you guys can give me on my new camera would be greatly appreciated. In the mean time I’ll keep reading the manual and related posts to try to answer my questions. I’m going to try to attach some crappy photos I took with my iPad.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Summer and I’ve been shooting film on and off for the past couple of years. This year I’ve really made more of an effort to get out there and shoot and I love it. I have a Pentax K1000 that is my first love. I also have a Yashica Mat124G and just acquired a Pentax 6x7 MLU from a lovely lady whose husband passed and left all his amazing gear behind. I will be posting about the 6x7 as I’m new to that beast of a camera and it does have some great accessories that came with it. See ya in the forums!
