Godox TT350P & YONGNUO YN-560 IV flash hss question...

I didn't use TT350P but Godox AD200, 400, and Godox X-proP. If you want to use the flash in HSS mode off-the-camera, you have two choices. First, Godox product external flash can be a flash and trigger, which means to control other Godox flash products. you could buy TT350P and another Godox external flash. Second, to buy a trigger "X-proP" and TT350P. Regarding the compatibility, I am not sure K50. I tried my Kr and Kp. It was pretty good. Kr is older than K50, so I think K50 is fine.

I am also a KP user, but I don't have any problem with lenses. I guess you probably set something incorrectly. If you post a video or particular photos here would be very helpful.

I think adding more function on their camera is the trend since Fujifilm knocked the bell to open the 4K 60/fps on an APS-C camera. Customers would be thinking of more features is better than nothing if the prices are close. If PENTAX wants to survive, then they don't have a choice, because it is a business. They build new star lenses with EMD (Electro-Magnetic Diaphragm), it is probably not a new tech for other brands, but it is a good beginning. A processor is as the heart on a camera. It is a very beginning of an upgrade. Even though they enhance all functions without a fast processor, the battery's life and camera temperature would be a problem not even to release a mirrorless camera. I don't believe they will have a "JUMP" improvement, so the price may be not really ugly :) (The price of the newest star lens is really ugly !!!)

Hi, X-series users, I bought an X-T3 recently, and I have a question about the function of an adapter on X-T3. I have tried suing kit lens with manual focus, and the touch screen does work to lock on the subject. I have a Pentax D FA 50mm F1.4 lens. This lens is really fantastic, so I don't want to sell it out. Thus, if I want to use the maximum aperture to take photos, Could I only buy a cheap adapter? What else should I concern about? I knew the weight would not be balanced and only manual focus. Oh, does the function of focusing on the touch screen work? thanks for the help.

WoW, thank you for your information. I searched the Socionext. It seems like MB86S22 model (1080/60i, H.264) is inserted on KP. I downloaded their PDF file. Those features are so familiar with. This technology released in 2016, K1 released in 2016, and KP released in 2017. That's good. So, the right question to PENTAX is that "Do they will insert SC2000 model (4K, H.264/ H.265(HEVC), Dual Camera) in the future camera?" SC2000 model only supports H264 4K p30/HEVC 4K p30, but FHD is up to 240fps. And yet "Dual Camera?" is it only for a smartphone? But it categorized in digital camera solution. In their official website, SC2002 seems to be the newest one.

I agree. Actually, I have tried X-T3 last week. The big issue is no IBIS on all lenses. Well, at least XF 16-55mm f2.8 doesn't. And as you mentioned that X-T3 is a retro-designed. It's a little bit uncomfortable to me, but I am not gonna judge it. I didn't use Fujifilm's camera before. I think I just not used to it, so no biased.

Regarding Pentax KP, it is a good and portable APS-C camera no doubt. I have used it for almost 1 year, and I can say with certitude that I even can shoot with 1/20 without a tripod. Good job KP! I really love it.

Recently, I have a question that does PENTAX would release a new firmware for upgrading their camera? If you look through Fujifilm, they always take care of their users.

I agree with you. High iSO on KP is amazing, of course. It'll be fine if the video at 100% speed or above. However, a slow-motion video may be not good if bright colors are in the video especially red. Those bright colors are turbulent. It's like those colors are been peeled off. I don't know it happened because of my Mac Air, or 60 interlaced. I even tried a custom image and reduce saturation and contrast, but it's still the same if I edit those color back.

K1 how much of the sensor is used in video mode?

I had thought about to buy a moondog or moment anamorphic lens. However, this kind of lens is only better at lighting. The anamorphic lens can make a light looks like a cinematic effect. However, if you shoot a low light area such as indoor or at night, the noise would be more than you expected. If you when to reduce noise, the only way is underexposure. Moreover, the effect only fit a specific angle. If you want a cinematic resolution such as 2.39:1, then you could use Final Cut Pro or Premiere to change the resolution such as 1980*816 or 1980*803.

Regarding the Pentax video mode. It is probably okay when the video's speed you set at 100% or above. On the contrary, the slow motion would have several problems such as a bright red color and a bright color on a plastic material.

National Geographic backpack has a large, medium, side back for consumers such as NG A5290, NG MC 5350. I think these two backpacks can be used in general cases.

Pentax KP battery issue?

I have the identical problem sometimes if I am shooting in the winter. I believe this problem is not just happening to your friend. I always carry on a hot hand warmer in my pocket if I want to shoot in outside in the winter, and put batteries in it. I use Live View. Of course, using Live View will kill my battery fast, but at least it can keep my camera warm. Using Video mode either. And don't forget to prepare more batteries.

I tried my iPhone 7 with FiLMiC Pro app. Honestly speaking, iPhone 7 is better than KP. Well, the quality of video probably is identical if using 1080 60p, but iPhone 7 has 1080 120p! For slow motion, it's way better than Pentax any camera. FilMic Pro also allows users to shoot in Log. In the low light however, iPhone 7 is really bad, but not much chance shoot in indoor actually. But at night, iPhone 7 is totally useless. I am not a Pentax advocate, but I am trying to value my camera and trying all functions on my camera. And I agree with Merv-O said that . I like Pentax's color rendition, so I bought a KP. Nonetheless, color rendition seems not much difference today. Fujifilm X-T3 is on my list. This camera is good on shoot photo and video. I don't take it for business, but it's more than enough for recording a trip and life.

ps : I still hope Pentax/Ricoh could improve the video function. The newest start lens 50mm f1.4 is way better than old start lenses. But I seem to figure out that Pentax didn't change the algorithm of focus, instead of they bump up the SDM size to make it fast?

cheers.

I know Pentax company may not want to boost video performance. However, I tried the video mode on KP yesterday, and I think it's ok for me. I tried a B-roll video. It's only 38 seconds. So either that I use 1080 60i or 720 60p. I tried the 720 60p once, but details were a bit blurry. 1080 60i looks ok in details, but it's interlaced not progressive. But I still tried it anyway. I wish when I want to take a video sometimes, I can get a decent return. I still have a hope that Pentax upgrades the video performance. At least 1080 120p or 60p.

This video is video only. I can add audio and edit too much color on it because I was using Mac Air.

Follow Focus

Materials:
1. Follow focus ( the cheaper one: Follow Focus with Single 15mm Rod ClampŁ¬ Gear Ring Belt for DSLR Cameras UD#20 692753656896 | eBay )
2. L plate ( for all cameras) (if your camera is smaller than KP for example, then you gotta buy a small L plate. )
3. A 15mm single rod ( but almost sell with a pair )
4. A Smallrig Rod Clamp 15mm
5. A small clamp ( for fixing on the side of the plate ) ( ex: Smallrig 1973 )

Hi all. I just want to share a follow focus set up. I am not sure that is there a thread is talking about follow focus. Recently, I want to learn how to make a short video/ travel video. I am definitely not a pro filmmaker. I don’t want to use my iPhone 7, because it doesn’t have a decent depth of field and really bad in the low light. I don’t want to carry a big gimbal either when I travel to another country. Thus, I searched on Youtube for information what I need to. I believe that this type of follow focus is not a new thing. However, because Pentax user is not quite a lot, third parties don’t want to make exclusive accessories for Pentax cameras. This set up may not as good as a professional one, but it is portable. When I want to take a lower position, I can grab the Godox transmitter ( I always carry an AD200 with me ). Sometimes it could be my grip. If I don’t want to use it, just turn the gear away, or unload the whole L plate. If you want to learn to make a slow mode video, or you don’t want to spend too much money on it. You probably want to try it. Anyway, I list those materials. I hope that this thread helps someone who is seeking this. It's basically suitable for any camera.

I had tried the Yongnuo flash YN585 EX, and it works. AF201FG I am not sure about it. I have tried YN585 EX & JY610 II. The method I mentioned is ok. Or it may work if you try to restore the original setting, and try it again.

According to the Godox official website, the recycle of AD 600 Pro is between 0.01 - 0.9 second on full-power. However, they didn't tell you the truth is that if you take too much photoshoot, the probability of on 0.9 is high, especially your shoot fast. I think it is a common issue.

Merry Christmas ShadowCat, I am not sure what mode you were using, but there is clearly that noise is really full of these pictures. As you mentioned that iso was at 25000. It would happen on my Kp too even K1. You could try to use AV/M mode to control your ios, then make sure your aperture, then check your shutter is upper than the save shutter. Another suggestion for you is that you could use the built-in flash if it is possible, or to buy a small external flash.

I don't have K3 but Kp. I'll turn to "MANUAL" mode and setting flash mode at "ON" when I want to use an external flash. You may set the HHS on your external flash, and it would work.

Hi Widdly, I have never use K-3, but I have a KP in my hands. I can say with certitude that you may consider the capacity of Kp's battery. K-3 is D-LI90, Kp is L-I109. You probably don't want to have a battery grip on hand, because it would be heavier then k-3. If you often use live view, then the battery would dissipate so quickly. My suggestion is that you could search on Flickr to seek what lenses are often used and focal length. Carrying a wide lens is for sure. And like RonHendriks1966 said that GR series is really lightened.
ps: if you use continuous shooting a lot, you probably don't want to switch from K-3 to Kp. But, Kp's quality is better than K-3 is for sure.

Hi, Pink, this SD card is ok for Pentax K-50. However, I think the format of this SD card is excessive for Pentax K-50. I think you only need UHS-I or Class 10 is enough.
