*Update* Pentax has agreed to cover my repairs under warranty at no cost to me. I sent the camera in on October 1 and they approved the repairs last week. Now I am waiting on parts is the status I'm getting. I will share any your of a repair story or explanation that I receive. So far they have still only confirmed aperture failure.

Mine is one of the aperture failure units and I love the camera. That count for anything?

Update as of 10/19/18 is Pentax/Ricoh has not responded to Precision camera about covering my repairs. They are staying in contact with me but I am still uncertain of it the repairs will be covered.

I do intend on asking that the faulty parts be returned with the camera. Especially if I have to pay out of pocket. They may decline to return the defective parts if warranty pays for it.

Fingers still crossed....

I misunderstood. Was making a wife spends all my money joke. I believe I used PayPal to purchase but it pulled funds from a card that may offer something like that. Right now I'm counting on Pentax to step up and keep a new Pentax customer happy.

Haha! My wife already used it to cover everything else. If my credit card covers anything else it's gonna be a K1 Mark Il.

Precision camera repair has received my camera and verified aperture failure. They have provided me a quote of $246.73 to repair the camera 15 days out of warranty. I will make some calls to Ricoh USA today and see if I can get this handled. Will update again, hopefully with better news.

*Update* Spoke with Precision and they are contacting their Ricoh warranty repair on my behalf. Fingers crossed!

If i still have any on my memory card i'd be happy to post them and would most likely do it on the new post made by @Stevebrot about under exposed photos on the K70

I will share any information that the repair shop provides me.

Yes, I apologize for making duplicate posts. I was responding to 2 separate threads and was frustrated shortly after the failure occurred. I have sent the camera off to Precision Camera and contacted Ricoh USA and they have contacted Precision on my behalf. I will provide all further updates and information on the new post about the concern. :)

K-70 aperture motor question

Yes aperture block failure of some kind. I've tested 3 lenses on it and set shutter speed to 2 seconds and looking down the lens from the front there is no difference in the aperture blades(they close all the way down) regardless of setting. All pictures are very dark even outside on ISO3200. Sad thing is I'm 15 days out of warranty. Now I'm not a professional or a camera tech, but from everything Ive read, that's what I'm dealing with.

I have had my K70 just over a year and a little over 3400 shutter count. Mine just failed and I'm awaiting a response email about the warranty. Still probably isolated cases as I have our seen 1 or 2 others besides mine at this point. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the camera. Only wish I had better luck out of mine. 😂😂

Just saw this thread and wanted to join to reply. Bought my K70 Sept 17, 2017 and have take around 3400 photos. Mine failed last week. Looks like aperture block failure as well, but mine went all at once and never intermittently came and went. Very disappointing.
