Mine does the same. It has been an issue since I purchased the lens years ago and was sent for repair. It was marginaly better when returned, but it is still very poor at 16mm, and weak up to 28mm (strangely 18mm seems ok). I have had better results using live view, and this makes me believe it is a focussing issue rather than a decentering problem. Every now and again I get a good result at 16mm, usualy if the subject is not too far away (an interior for example), but unfortunately I tend to avoid using this lens as I don't trust the results - unless it's raining!

A total failure of the screen is my concern now, not just when it is flipped. I often use the KP with the screen off whilst shooting anyway, but without access to menus etc it's curtains for one of my favourite ever cameras. I'm even considering supergluing the screen flat to avoid any further unecessary flexing of the cable. K3iii users must be wondering what all the fuss is about.

Hi, I really like the photos. Thanks for sharing them. I too went with a K70 to complement my GR2. Just recently got hold a used K1 - the best thing is it gives all of my film era lenses two 'focal lengths' dependěng on the full frame or APSC sensor. In a way it expands your lens collection without spending a penny on new lenses.

I have both cameras. The image quality of both is more or less identical, which I actually appreciate - I can grab either with no anxiety about which is 'better'. Because of ergonomics, the K70 generally has a zoom lens mounted, and the KP a prime. One thing I like about the KP is the shutter - so much smoother and quieter than the K70.

Cant go wrong with the DA50 1.8. On the KP it feels well balanced and lightweight. The manual focus is very pleasant to use on it too. Only con is the screwdrive focussing is a little noisy.

Do you still use the F 35-70? I love it despite its looks.

I use a hood on all my lenses, as much for protection from the rain as glare from the sun! I tend to leave the lens cap off until the camera goes back in the bag, so the hood is added protection from knocks too.
On some lenses, such as the manual A50mm 1.7 and A135 2.8 there is a noticeable difference in contrast and colour when using a hood.

Im not a professional by any means, but maybe the KP and K70 (I have both) are more ‘enthusiast’ cameras? I love them both and the image quality is outstanding, but battery life, handling/ergonomics etc don’t strike me as entirely suitable for professional or commercial use. Maybe the K1 is better in this regard.

Ok, woke up this morning and tried my K70 with PLM (had to do this in the spare room as the other half was getting sick of the noise!) and so far, so good. The issue has gone away. I have a theory; I had removed my KP's battery for a few hours to charge it yesterday morning with the PLM attached. Could the the electromagnet in the PLM have 'drained' whilst conected to the camera, therefore making the motor work extra hard when tested later that evening? As I mentioned it was second hand, so who knows how long it has sat around. It gas also been freezing here in UK and delivery time was quite long, possibly exposing the lens to sub zero temperatures for a few days if sat on a wagon...
Thanks so much for the advice everyone, particularly pointing me to those diagrams on the Pentax page. Cheers. ---------- Post added 01-28-21 at 01:02 AM ----------
Hi, thanks. It was less than half price, but looks in mint condition. No evidence of a knock. If the noise persists I might keep it as the image quality and focus speeds I am getting are great. ---------- Post added 01-28-21 at 01:03 AM ----------
Hi, no I wasn't using Live view. Interesting to know to expect some noise in that case though, thanks.

The A 28 2.8 is your best bet for small and cheap. I use it a lot on my KP. You probably won't get clinical, sharp images at all focal distances - infinity isn't great, but acceptable. It is a lot of fun to use in AE mode and the colours are great. As an added bonus it looks great on the KP too!

A few years back I was a little bit obsessed with the edge sharpness in pictures taken with my 16-85 zoom, or lack of in my slightly decentered example. No matter what the subject of a picture taken with this lens I would find myself zooming to 100% to see how blurry it was.
I then read an article which pointed out that if you are obsessing over edge sharpness and other lens defects in a picture then your photo just isn't that interesting. Who ever looked at a photograph by the likes of Joseph Kudelka, Cartier-Bresson or Robert Frank and examined the edges or corners over the main subject? In fact, if you do they often aren't that sharp...

Love your night time shots. I visited Vilnius and Trakai a few years ago. Now I want to go back!

k55 1.8 is probably my favourite, but just aquired a M 50 f4 macro that is outrageously sharp, not just for close ups, but also as a walk around/landscape lens. Hands down the best edge to edge image quality I have experienced (if sharp equals image quality...). Not yet tried pixel shift with it yet, not sure if my eyes will take it...
