That cliches it. Finally it works in the K20. Thanks guys for all the info.
Age catching up with me. I am 71 years old & I started using Pentax in 1973 - a Spotmatic II which I borrowed from my bro-in-law. I bought my own ME Super 2pcs in 1984, SFX in 1988, Z1 in 1992, Z1P in 1997, Z10 in 2002 - that's the last of the film camera. K100D in 2006, K10 in 2010, K20 in 2011, K5 in 2013 which I sold off after 6 months. K500 in 2017 & a used K3 in 2019.
I used Pentax all my life but now retired & can't afford to get new equipment. Hoping to get a reasonably priced used KP soon.
Thanks for everything

Don't have this setting for the K20 or K10. My K3 have this focus/release priority & it's always on focus priority but the K3 got no problem. It's ok if there's no solution. I just continue to use this solely on the K3 ---------- Post added 12-23-22 at 11:13 AM ----------
Catch in focus is enabled all the time but don't have shutter priority. Guess the camera is too old

I got my K10D in 2010. It's a GP 2007 edition & come with vertical grip. I have been using the K100D since 2006 & so shooting with digital is not a problem but I find the overall output to be not optimal. Quite a few pics out of focus & I don't face such problems with the K100D. When I got my K20 a few months later I stopped using the K10D & put it in storage but once in a while I will take it out, charge the batteries & run a few shots. I prefer to use the K20 & I loved this camera. Then later I got the K5 & K3 & I stopped using the K20. After browsing through some of the posts in this forum I think I will use the K10 again & the K20 too

Just bought this lens for a few months using on my K3 & the results are very good. Since it's manual focus I set it at infinity & placed a piece of tape on the focus ring so that it won't move. Yesterday I tried it on my K20 but the shutter won't click. Even when I changed the camera setting to MF & disable all the AF settings, still it won't work. I tried it on my K10 same result. I got other non Pentax lenses like Tamron 90mm, 75-300mm & 10-24mm & these can work on all my Pentax cameras. Anybody got similar problem?

My 16-50 sdm died after using less than 3 years & I didn't use it for 2 years. Then one guy in our local Pentax forum said he can disable the sdm & he used my K20 to do it. My 16-50 came back to life & I have been using it for the last 4 years

My K3 also have this problem when shooting in Live View. I have the grip on & both batteries fully charged - both are original Pentax batteries. Turn off both the camera & the grip but the Live view is still on. Remove the lens & the mirror is up. Have to remove both batteries then back to normal. If don't use Live view it won't happen. I can shoot till the grip battery went flat

K3 was my dream camera 5 years ago but I couldn't afford it at that time. So I got the K500 & I was still using my K10 & K20. Recently I saw there's a lot of used K3 advertised on B&H. I ordered one & it arrive today. It came in a small box without manuals or CD but got a charger with 2 original batteries & some cables. Actually there were 5 choices for K3 & there was even a K3II but I chose this with a rating of 9+ When I removed the wrapping I saw that the camera looks very new. When I took out the hotshoe cap it looks spotless & shiny. I charge the battery, attach a lens & took a shot. It looks sharp & crisp & I upload this pic online here to check the data. The shuttercount is 123. It's practically unused even though it's an old model. B&H quality is really good.
2 years ago I bought a used Panasonic videocam at B&H also rated at 9+. It was brandnew & never give me any problem for these 2 years of constant usage

The paper just to prevent the switch from moving back to original position. It won't jam the lens. I used this method for almost a year

Visited this forum many times & decided to register today.
Been using Pentax all my life. Got a Spotmatic II in 1974. Bought a pair of ME Super in 1984 - still got 1pc in my cabinet. Got my first autofocus SFX in 1988 & system flash. That was the first time I used rear curtain flash with 0.3 sec exposure. In 1992 I got my Z1 - that was the best Pentax I ever used. In 1997 got a PZ1 at a cheaper rate. My last film camera was a Z10 in 2001.
In 2006 I got my first digital K100D - it's still with me in working condition. In 2010 bought this special K10 GP edition. A few months later got the last K20 from my friend's shop - helped him to clear stock. Got my K5 in 2012 & K500 in 2014.
Now I am retired but still doing freelance mostly video. Now I invest more on my videocams. All my Pentax DSLRs are still working & I don't feel like getting another. I may get a used K3 sometime soon.

Been using my K500 for almost 3 years without problem. Then started having this dark screen problem. At first I just point at the sky & took some burst shots & it will be ok. Later on that won't work. I got an old lens used on my old Pentax film camera & it work very well with my K500. I read about the dis-assembly of the camera & modifying the solenoid thing. Seems like it's way too difficult for me. I tried a lot of ways & finally came up with this simple thing as shown in the pic.
I remove the lens. At the rear of the lens there's a switch that control the lens opening. Move it up & the lens opening is the biggest. Hold it & insert a small piece of rolled up paper into the groove so that the switch remain in the top position. Put back the lens & the camera works normal again. Been doing that for a year now. So far I did that for 3 lenses - 18-55mm, 10-17mm & 18-135mm. I took thousands of pics this year & my last shutter count was 39,248. Slight problem of over exposure in bright sunlight but very minimal
