Jer:
Not really. Some people have claimed success by swapping the view screen with an istDS, and of course you can apply the math and adjust for the over exposure.
Hopefully a solid solution is in the works ...

RawShooter Essentials 2006 (now usable with the K10D thanks to blink_too_fast).

Ben:
Great. I'm new to this forum so I don't know if many others have noted the problem with green button metering in Manual mode with old lenses (such as the "M" and "K").
In that other forum the overexposed meter readings are a much discussed topic, with the sentiment expressed that this problem "flies in the face" of the Pentax sales pitch to the effect that the K10D is compatible with ALL Pentax glass. [Quoting Don Allison; see also K & M problem on K10D--are we giving up for now?: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review]
Of course, there are work arounds, such as estimating additional shutter clicks, but it would be nice to actually get a usable meter reading after hitting the green button. To be sure, my *istDS works just fine with the same old lenses. So, hopefully this concern can be addressed to some degree at your upcomming meeting.
Thanks, Alan Eskenazi |

Dan:
I put my 61 year old mind to the test earlier today and found the thread, downloaded the new file, set it up and used it ... thanks to you for letting me know about it.
I tried it and it works fine. Many thanks.
By the way I added the new exe file to the RSE directory after first changng the name of the old exe file to "RawshooterDS.exe." I also renamed the new exe file "RawshooterK10D.exe" and set up a different shortcut for each executable. That way I can use RSE for both my K10D and istDs.

So Dan, thanks for your response, but I don't see the link to the thread in "that other forum" in your post. Maybe it's hiding somewhere?
If so, please point it out to me.
Thanks again,
Alan

It helps with focusing, and as said before, no more nose smears on the screen. The improvement is well worth the thirty plus dollar cost. I was able to see the center of these flowers when setting up the shot, something my 60+ year old eyes had trouble with before this little magnifier was added.

The possibility of an RSE work around for the K10D is news to me. Anyone have more information and details about that? Thanks ... |

I used Raw Shooter Essentials (RSE) with my DS, and liked it a lot. However, what with the Adobe buyout that's just about over. Also, it doesn't work with my K10D, so I started using the LightRoom beta. You can see the RSE influence there and I'm happy with it. However, I understand the regular program will be released soon, and the price is about $200. That's a bit high, so I may be looking for something more reasonably priced (of free!) to use. Hopefully, there's something that has some of the feel of RSE.
So, your comments in this thread obviously are of special interest to me as well.
Thanks ...
