DA 17-70 in absolutely mint condition. Comes with box, hood, both caps as supplied new. This lens is exceptional, claimed to be better than the DA 16-45. I will miss this lens.

CRK in Melbourne are excellent. Their face to face customer service is a bit oh go away you annoying person, but their techs are great.
Had an incident with the aperture actuator on the K10D. Had it repaired and two days before the World Superbikes last year it failed again. I rang them at 4:30, and a 5:15 a courier arrived with a new body that I used for the 3 days of the superbikes. Awesome! In the end I just kept the replacement body (shutter count was 7 when I got it) and left them with the old one. As I was in Melbourne for the bikes from Perth I just dropped the K10 in at Perth CRK no questions asked.
When my DA17-70 SDM died dropped it into Perth with a wait of two weeks. came back from Melbourne inside a week.
Have nothing but good things to say for CRK Melbourne.
Oh and they helped me source a Sigma 100-300/4. There was only one in Oz then and they found it for me.

I shoot motorsport - bikes mainly with a K7, Sigma 70-200/2.8, 100-300/4 and a Sigma 1.4x TC.
K7 + 100-300/4
K7 + 100-300/4 + 1.4x TC
K7 + 70-200/2.8

No wonder the K7 is your best camera, you are ranking it against inferior DSLR.
The K7 is marketed as a semi pro camera, none of those you mentioned are marketed as such. Infact the D90 is a relic, is was direct competiton to the K20D.
If you want to test the relative merits of the K7, compare it to the D300/s, and 50D. They are the competition for Pentax.
Why do I like the K7
1. because the $,000's in lenses I own work on it
2. It was a logical upgrade from the K10D
3. It is the best Pentax DSLR in terms of AF performance
4. great ergonomics
Balancing that out:
1. It is still no competiton for Canikon in AF speed and focus tracking
2. higher ISO is noisy - compare it to the K10D, it is a step backward
3. OEM and 3rd party lens selection is average at best (excluding those awesome primes)

Yes they are made of tuff stuff down under. :eek: I had the same problem until she found her own hobby with a healthy buying addiction. Now we "discuss" whose toys will be purchased first... :p

The 90mm is an awesome macro lens. At 90mm I would guess it should be pretty nice for portraits too, but I don't own one so can't confirm. I do own the 28-75 and it is an excellent protrait lens. I bought it for that purpose and have never been disappointed.
pretty good for close ups of flowers etc...

Sigma 500/4.5 not available new in Oz in Pentax mount :( I can either import one, and play with Oz Customs, get a used one, or go for a trip to the US or Asia and buy one while I'm there.

an interesting topic. This is something I have been toying with (and alternately thinking seriously about) for some time. I shoot motorsport (bikes mainly) using a K7, Sigma 70-200/2.8 and 100-300/4. Used to use the K10D, lucky to get 30% keepers :( Now with the K7 at least I'm up around 70%.
My main beef is lack of long fast lenses from any maker. Sigma's 300/2.8 is as long/fast as it gets in Pentax.
The choice of replacement would be the D300S, mainly for the AF performance. By the sounds of things I'm not far from the money in this regard. What does put me off is the cost on Nikkor lenses, and that third party lens makers don't provide VR / OS / IS etc on their fast long zoom lenses.
So... I'm still with Pentax longing for some long fast glass, or a winning lottery ticket :lol:

have just gone through the machinations of testing the 100-300/4 with the Sigma 1.4 TC.
I can't recommend it highly enough. I had borrowed a TC, but there is one winging it's way from B&H as I write.
K7 + 100-300/4 + Sigma TC 1/125s f/7.1 (+ a stop) at 280.0mm x 1.4 = 392mm iso400

Do you upload large files and sell directly via download or do an "approve and replace" to replace the small image with a larger hi-res one for example? I am keen to load up the larger file (say 5MB) but concerned about what uploading 250 5mb images might do and how long it might take.
I sell via a website now and fill orders via email. Miss impulse buys, the current process is quite clumsy.

Looking at alternatives for hosting an e-commerce site to sell digital images by download or to order prints.
Am in Australia so won't be using the printing services offered by Zenfilio or others.
Is anyone using Zenfolio for E-Commerce. Any comments, advice?
Alternative is to host a site on my own server and have someone build a website.

Hi
all images in this link taken with K10D and Sigma 70-200 f2.8 II HSM
images in this link with K7 and the Sigma. Better AF of the K7 makes a difference
now if you want excellent IQ can recommend the Sigma 100-300/4. Images in this link taken with K7 and the 100-300/4

Interesting thread. I hope the OP hasn't reacted to the comments on here and stayed with the K7 for exactly the same reasons the various posters accused him of in wanting to shift to the D300S. :confused:

Was at PI in March for World SBK, was awesome. Had a media pass so got to some of the better spots to shoot from :)
