Production of black Pentax K-3 Mark III stopped???!!!

Okay. I read it but it hardly makes any sense to me. If Pentax was about saving money and beeing more flexible productionwise, they'd better drop anything but black. And they just stopped several silver DA-Lenses. That doesn't fit too good to a decision of stopping the production of non-silver non-monochrome bodies, does it? I don't get it. I still wait for rhe announcement of a new, almost black K-3 III body.

Sorry for not following the whole discussion but:

Pentax seems to have stopped the production of black K-3III bodies but still produces silver ones and the Monochrome, right? Shouldn't this just mean, they'll be switching to something like gunmetal grey? Why stopping a camera when there are still enough parts to build their siblings?

Now that's no good at all. These pancake Limiteds are part of the the DNA of Pentax to me.

I see, there is a newer and better FA 21/2.4 by now but it's neither as reasonably priced, nor as small and light.

I's a loss and I don't appreciate the path, Pentax is taking here.

Strolling through Stuttgart on a bright black day and look for the big city feeling.

All pictures made in (fake-) 'infrared' mode and almost directly 'out of camera' (minor horizon allignment, cropping and lens correction).

Ricoh GR IIIx announced. new 26.1 mm lens (40mm eq)

It should not be a real problem to use the 0.75 conversion lens (that is already designed for a wide lens) on a 40 mm but you are right concerning the use of the TC lens (that in fact does not even cover the circle of the original 40 mm afaik) on the original GR III.

Anyways: it would not have been impossible. It's just not wanted. Else the IIIx would be cannibalizing the original III.

Not really? Neither sizewise, nor in the focal length (that equals 60 mm in case of K-01 w. 40 mm XS and 40 mm in case of the GR IIIx)?!

Such a nice camera! I instantly started to love it.

It's certainly a little sad, that the wide lens doesn't fit on the new IIIx and the tele lens also doesn't fit on the III. But anyway: Think about combining a GR IIIx with a good 1"-sensored wideangle raw-capable smartphone: You'd have everything you need for city and street...

'Be patient and wait' (Kimio Tanaka)

I thought that this camera would be coming before Christmas 2020. But since the announcement in 'early fall' was reduduced to several bits of information, I switched my expectations to a presentation in the timeframe of CP+ 2021, regardless weather it'll physically take place or not. This would be end of february 2021.

It's easily possible that the presentation has to be delayed for Sony not beeing in Time with their new sensor. Pentax certainly is not to be first with it. Sony products have to be first.

Finally: Mr. Tanaka hast been the one, talking about "early autumn" in the First place. He also was the one, claiming a higher pricepoint for the upcoming camera. Now he was forced to go behind his first point. Hopefully he also has to withdraw the second. :-D

No. Don't belive that. The second APS-C most probably is just a K-70-replacement.

This rumor is one year old. At least. I read about it first, while PENTAX was celebrating it's heritage and it's onehundredth birthday. Nothing has happened and I don't belive this will change. Why? A film-SLR would be an entirely new camera. It would have to be completely up-to-date as far as autofocus, autoexposure and even things like scene-detection are concerned. It would have to be fast and sturdy and reliable. Very few of those would sell. So it certainly would have to be be quite expensive. I' don't belive in that business-case.

This second camera will be an update to the K-30/50/70-line most obviously.

The articulating screen is already there. Add phasedetection-AF on-sensor, add some modern chipset and video-codec and don't forget about in- and output-connectors: here we go.

Even though I actually am an APS-C-user and am about to stay with that format, I still hope PENTAX won't forget about K-1- and 645Z-users. An Update to those cameras would certainly be appreciated!
