Wow. You’ve had a very busy year. Thinking about how much you accomplished makes me tired. As always your work is fantastic, made even more impressive by the great images your repaired cameras produce.

I agree that the ME Super can have problems too. Bought one from an auction and the mirror was stuck up. Another has a laggy shutter curtain. Of course these were not maintained so paying for a repair could help but that gets a lot more pricy. ---------- Post added 10-16-22 at 06:48 PM ----------
That’s a great trick. Has no idea you could over expose to that extent and get such a great pic.

Apparently Randy Johnson is a Pentaxian. For those not familiar with Randy Johnson he was an American baseball pitcher. Standing 6'10" he was intimidating, a tremendous competitor and a very hard thrower who stuck out a lot of batters. Second only to the great Nolan Ryan in career strikeouts, he was dominant.
I guess he's a pretty good photographer too and apparently a hard rock/metal head.
Here's his website. On he "about" section is a picture of "the Big Unit" with a Pentax 67 around his neck. Concerts – Randy Johnson Photography
Hos logo appears to be a dead bird. I assume that's reference to the time he was throwing a pitch when an unfortunate bird flew in front of the batter and exploded into a puff of feathers. The video is not hard to find if you are interested.

Beautiful camera. I’ve been considering one but am a little afraid of their age. You seem to have a really nice example.

I’ve never owned a laptop that was good enough to justify paying for a operating system upgrade.
Glad it’s working well for you.

That’s encouraging. Thanks. I’m eager to see what results I get. I’ll probably take a gamble and try box speed and maybe brackets a few shots.
Sounds like the Astia might be less forgiving.

Is there a market for a propane or gasoline powered DSLR? I can just imagine trying to compose a photo while the camera’s 2 stroke engine gently belches exhaust into my face.

Man this thread is a downer. I’m not an economics guy but can’t help but hope that the high demand will convince Kodak and Fuji to get back in the game and ramp up production. I don’t know what Kodak is up to these days but is there business so good that they can ignore the
demand for film? (I understand current issues have a lot to do with supply chain stuff. Hope things get better when this is lightens up).

Very nice. You said Rodinal may not have been a good choice. What are you going to try next?
I’ve only developed b&w with Rodinal (stand developed) but not entirely happy with the results and more grain than I’d like. Also shooting primarily cheap films like Kentmere btw.

Sounds like some pretty fast lenses. I always assumed that you didn’t shoot wide open because you were using long exposures and/or stacking.

Man, that is discouraging. I always thought a half frame camera would be cool. With 72 exposures available you can fire away with reckless abandon. I guess it’s not to be.
Can those cameras with the selenium meters be fired manually and just use sunny 16?
I almost bought a half frame Olympus on CL a few years ago but the seller was pretty dodgy about the responsiveness of the meter. I suspect he knew it was toast.

I’m willing to help if I can. I only have a K-70 with 18-135, 35 and 50 currently. PM me if I can help.

Maybe they took the lens and replaced it with whatever they had on hand, which was someone else’s tool shipment.
In both scenarios someone is not getting any package at all so it doesn’t make sense to me.

I’m sorry. You are correct. It’s Portra 400 NC color negative and Astia 100 Daylight slide film

Thanks. That makes sense. The film is Astia and Portra.
I’ll probably shoot a roll of each at box speed and bracket by shooting 1 frame regular, 1 stop over and 2 stops over.
At worst I can try to process as c41 and see what wild colors I get.

A generous member of another message board was kind enough to give me a pretty good supply of Kodak and Fuji slide film. Cold stored I believe but long since expired (20 years). I’ve never developed
slide film so had Planned to shoot a send out for development. He said he used
some and it had a magenta cast which could be corrected by using filters. I doubt I have the right filters and wondered if I could correct the cast in Lightroom instead.
Also, would you start by overexposing by 1 or 2 stops given it’s age?
Thanks

I’m a bit cautious but will admit to taking photos of people without their expressed written permission. I’m a little slow with MF so when I do street photography it’s typically Auto focus, aperture priority. Quick and not dramatic about it.
I will purposely avoid people who reason to be sensitive such as homeless and other vulnerable looking people.
Glad it worked out for you. As I’m sure has been said above, he’d get a kick out of a print of your photo.

Sorry about you father.
Please keep up the great work. I’m always so impressed by your work in saving these cameras most would consider a lost cause.
