This is one of my favorite rose images and I decided to play around with converting it to B&W and apply split-toning in the attempt to come up with a gold color. I also added some vignetting from the original image. Not my usual rose image...:)

These plants were growing wild in the forest around the resort I was staying at, and so must have been planted around the grounds at one time. I didn't know anything about this plant, but now I know why since it is extremely poisonous. However it is beautiful to photograph:).

50mm 1.4 as a walk-around lens

Hello Gary,
Hope you're on the mend!
For what it's worth, here's my two-cent's worth: My walk around lens on the K-1 is the DFA 28-105...in all honesty, it's a tough decision to take this lens off the camera.
Thinking about portraiture, acquired a DFA* 50 and it is a beautiful lens. A little heavy compared to lenses from the film era but (with a battery grip) seems well balanced on the K-1.
Although I've tried a tried a variety of 50mm lenses over the years for landscape, never really got the bug for that range preferring first a Sigma 10-20 on the APS-C and then the DFA 15-30 on the K-1. A landscape aspect I haven't really worked through with the DFA 15-30 is the inability to work with my current Cokin filter set...replicating or using PhotoShop to enhance an image will most likely be my next step. Similar to yourslef, this voluntary sheltering has crimped the photo outings considerably.
If the 50mm range is your style then I don't think you could go wrong with the current version. Again, it is a beautiful piece of engineering and compliments the K-1's full-frame technology

I've said it many times, and I'll say it once more... the market economy will drive and define the eventual selling price of the K-3III.

Whatever the release price of the camera, once Ricoh notices that initial sales have tailed off and aren't recovering, they'll gradually drop the price on the body and/or body-and-lens kits - and they'll keep adjusting the prices (or holding discount events) over time until enough folks buy it, or it becomes insufficiently profitable to manufacture and distribute further. Discounting may start to happen within a year, or it may take longer. Serious discounts from the initial retail price probably won't happen for a couple of years, give or take a little. Those who want the camera upon (or soon after) release will have to ante up and pay full initial retail price, and that's always been the case. Those who aren't in a rush and can wait should be able to save quite a bit of money within a year or two.

The question we all should ask ourselves is, would it be worth waiting all that time to save, say, 10 - 20%? Folks who really need the camera's features and specifications might conclude the relatively small premium - a few hundred bucks at most - is worth paying to get their hands on the camera as soon as possible and start making productive use of it. Folks who conclude that premium is too much to justify and they'd rather wait really don't need the camera (I probably fall into that bracket) and will have to exercise patience. Those who decide the camera is way outside what they can genuinely afford probably won't ever buy the camera new from stock, whether upon release or even in a couple of years' time, unless their financial circumstances change - so they may as well put it out of their minds and stop torturing themselves about it. After all, anyone who truly can't afford $2,000 (and I realise a lot of people are in that position) couldn't really afford $1,600 either. When a difference of $400 or so is such a crucial factor, you probably shouldn't be spending money on a new camera in the first place :o
