"Wind Sculpture" by sculptor Yinka Shonibare. I only know since I had to look it up when captioning pictures I took of the same piece. :)

Here's mine. As usual, another year goes by without me being as active as I'd have liked. |

I haven't really been participating in the giveaway. But I have most of these lenses (albeit in the older pre-HD versions), so I'd feel a bit selfish if I did win. But it's a fun mental exercise; I'd likely go with the 20-40 or the 77 since I don't have those. The 77 would probably get the nod; I have the older pre-HD version of the DA 70, which I'm quite happy with, but there's just something about that lens. The 20-40 is tempting as well, but the situations where I'd use it are mostly covered by the workhorse 16-85.

Definitely a dino! And you're not the only one, I have several. This one, for example: Soulless gaze by Ashurban1pal, on Flickr

I'd go with the latest (HD Pentax-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE), focus speed is better. Well worth the small increase compared to the older (non-PLM) versions.

This guy was having trouble flying, one of his wings wouldn't straighten. A little sugar water and some time in the sunlight and off it flew! Monarch on the back porch by Ashurban1pal, on Flickr

That's another problem: I always mean to do this but never do. Too busy procrastinating to get around to it! ;) Seriously though, I'm sure I'd be more proactive if I lived in a more humid environment.

My experience is the same. My lenses are in a cabinet with a few silica gel packets, but since I rarely swap them out I'm sure the only effect those have is psychological. But I do take care to properly dry equipment before putting it away. The atmosphere in my house is rarely excessively humid, though.

I'd go with the DA 18-135 unless you'll be indoors where you might want the extra focal length on the wide end, or taking shots in low light where the max aperture might be a concern. Great lens, especially if you take the size and weight into consideration.

I didn't do an exhaustive check on mine, but scrolling through the past couple dozen only one showed incomplete EXIF. A page refresh on that image fixed it though. I'm using Firefox 116 on Linux, FWIW.

If you're just looking for something to go in your existing backpack, I use a couple Tenba inserts just for that purpose. A smaller one that holds 4-6 primes and a larger one if I want a couple zoom lenses. They've changed their lineup since I bought these, but looks like the BYOB series is the current equivalent.

A few years back, I experimented with a 28mm reverse-mounted on the FA 135. Judging from the filenames, I'd say my keeper rate wasn't the best but it was fun to try. I love the FA135, though, so much that I bought a second copy when the aperture failed on the first one and couldn't be repaired.

True, although his bed was in the guest bedroom, that's where he'd sleep when he got tired of us!
