Forum: Pentax K-30 & K-50

So I’ve read a lot of posts about solenoid failure on K-30s and K-50s. As a proud original owner of a Pentax K-50, should I expect this problem to occur with my camera? I don’t like to tempt fate by asking the question, but are there ways to avoid the problem- constant use, AA batteries, etc. A quick summary for those of us with functioning cameras might help.

A friend recently gave me the Olympus XA2 with flash after telling me that he would no longer shoot film. I recently sold a Nikon One Touch as well as a Canon FTBn that belonged to my father in law, and have enjoyed sharing my film experience with the younger buyers. They both expressed an interest in street photography.

Actually the best student prices are on the 80s SLRs. Although not as retro looking as the older 70s models, I am still finding them for less than $100. The advantage is finding them with depth of field preview, manual overide, exposure compensation, and P, S, A and M modes.
