Thanks Hjortron, it's been a while since my last visit here. Your car could be a dismantled Morgan as they still have wooden frames underneath the sheet metal. ;)

Thanks Nuno. Love looking for Details. The circumstances have to be right, though. If I was only one foot shorter, I'd never noticed it.

Returning Pentax default settings after changing battery

With the *ist D, the internal battery can be reached through a flap on the bottom of the camera and is easy to replace. End of the story. After that, Pentax went to the dark side of internal battery placement.

I took the freedom to apply some curve adjustments as well as desaturating your example. In the process some hard steps in tonality appeared, but I think I could bring out te streaks a bit, which are visible to the left of the red marks. Is this what you meant?

Normal for this lens or odd? Concerning strange HD DA 55-300mm PLM OOF highlights

This is how I did reproducing it: Focus on some highlights. Then pull the focus in front of them so that the highlights are slightly out of focus. Play around with defocussing until the phenomenon shows (if there is anything to show with your copy). When I first noticed it the lens was at 230mm f6.3 distance about 7 meters but I was able to reproduce it at 300mm f6.3 and two meters distance as well. The harsher the highlights the more noticeable the effect.

True, but rings and dots also appear in the much softer highlights in a dimly lit plastic bottle, same shape, just softer.

This is not Peter Pan but Peter Pane like the italian word for bread. He's the Mascot of a burger restaurant chain where people go if they desire to pay much more than in other burger places.

Backbutton focus vs. AE-L

That's a workaround, thanks Peter. Must admit I didn't give much attention to dial controls yet.

Edit: In fact, I've already set the green button function to Tv Shift for manual mode to meter exposure with manual focus lenses. However, it never occurred to me to try it with AF lenses too.

That's what I guessed regarding the combined AF/AE-L button on the K-70. Now I know, thanks.

A DA 30 or 35mm 1.4 PLM WR and a DA 50mm 1.4 PLM WR with metal mount. Makes no real sense to have weather resistant crop bodies but no fast WR primes available.

Thanks for the link, new to me that there is an automatic way of compiling too. I didn't compare startup times with a watch, but I think the AppImage starts a little faster than the Flatpack. Still on Windows 10 at least, RT 5.9 started noticably slower than RT 5.8 did, about 3 times slower. Now with Linux there's some delay too compared to 5.8.

Since Linux is new territory for me, I was not familiar with AppImage. Tried it and RT 5.9 runs without quirks now.

K30, manual lenses and front focus

The only difference between af- and manual lenses is - your hand is the focussing-motor. Issues like front or backfocus do not depend on the way the focussing mechanism is driven.
