okay guys, I think it indeed is aperture block failure. The mechanism will not move/open the aperture in the lens whatsoever. I just had a friend of mine who deals with cameras alot take a look at it and identified the issue the best he could without opening the camera. So who could I take it to to get it fixed professionally or is there someone who has figured it out in the forums that I could follow how to fix it? I may have lost my warranty which is now the next major issue....

So in the original post bu stevebrot it says to "put the camera in M mode (auto ISO off, aperture ring not being used) with aperture set wide open and shutter speed at something slow (e.g. 1-2 seconds). Release the shutter while observing the aperture opening through the front of the lens.* Anything other than the aperture remaining wide open is indication of a problem with the controller.", I beleive, I put it into the correct settings and got a non black only photo, but I don't know what that means or what the next step should be. I put up my settings "aperture at 30 and f-stop at 4..0 and iso at 100" so anyone could check if they are indeed the correct settings.

So I'm not sure what I should be looking for when taking a photo when trying your #1 suggestion. I set the aperture at 30 and f-stop at 4..0 and iso at 100 on manual mode and a photo was indeed produced with color. but I don't know what the next step would be to fix the auto mode.

I will try #1, and it's been roughly 4 years that i used it while knowing how to fully work it, but I tried using it ~ 2 years ago at my brother's graduation and I forgot about the issue.

Hi,

So I tried playing around after the factory reset didn't take and I would HATE for this camera to have been broken. I've been playing with the shutter speed and f-stop on the ATvT setting and a picture did come out of it but it was on full brightness and was still very dark. The Last time I messed with this camera was when I was taking telephoto shots of the moon and I cant for the life of me remember what I did.

Thank you!
Hope you guys can help!
