My pleasure-it is satisying to get the more modern Pentax cameras working again when they have so much life left in them.

To celebrate 20 years of the first digital SLR from Pentax, the *ist D, its great construction and image quality, and the symbolism of having been the first, nothing better than starting a club where everyone can post their photos made with this icon of the world photography.
I have no idea how many *ist D are still up and running in the world, but I invite everyone to post photos made exclusively by *ist D, current or older photos, and tell the story of each, of that moment recorded to eternity.
Here are two of my latest photos made with the *ist D and the F50mm lens.
Spring is coming!!! and with the sun the flowers and cats appear...

A good example of why it is not a good idea to delete old "zombie" threads as someone suggested recently.

Originally the *ist DL only supports up to 2GB cards. You need the last firmware to read high capacity cards. Press menu buttom when powering up the camera and firmware version will be shown. The firmware version to read high capacity cards is 1.03.
To update the firmware you will need a card with up to 2GB capacity.

I would say it depends on your project. If it's only an image quality thing, then you will be better served with a last generation 24x36 digital camera than a Pentax 645D or Z.
I bought my 645D in order to be able to use my Pentax 67 lenses on a digital camera, especially the 105mm f/2.4, which I love. I think the image circle of the Pentax 67 105mm gets cropped too much on a 24x36 sensor. Its special rendering starts to appear on a 33x44 sensor and it really shines on 6x7 film. If I had more money, I would buy a camera with a 40x53.4 sensor but, in the meantime, the 645D is the best digital camera I can afford to use my 105mm lens. So, for my needs, the 645Z would not provide any sensible advantage over the 645D.
When I want to shoot at 12,800ISO, get the best dynamic range or use live view, I take my Sony A7Rii, which also happens to be much more light and compact than the big 645D.
Cheers!

Amazing condition. The K was the "too expensive" model that caused me to purchase an "S" as my first SLR.

Congratulations, what a beauty! I find the zebra Auto Takumar to be much nicer than the later 55/1.8 versions.

I have a D, never Z.
I just love the output of a CCD sensor. Ya, it’s slow but that’s how it is w MF shooting, at least for me. I have looked at plenty of files shot by Z, and while they look mighty fine, I prefer D over Z.
