It does. Or at least it did.
My understanding is that the early production runs (circa 2016) were in fact susceptible to the issue as it was around the time people figured out what was going on, with later runs using a refined solenoid that is far less susceptible to failure.
The story of my personal K-70 goes as follows: manufactured in July 2018, purchased in April 2019 brand new, been used with the PLM and an M lens exclusively until this week. No signs of impending solenoid failure in the ~50 shots taken so far, despite it not being used for over 3 years.
And speaking of the 55-300 PLM specifically, that lens uses its own aperture control and will work just fine even in the event of a solenoid failure.

Yes, I named my K-70 "Springblossom" after the exploration ship from the X universe, but also because I got it in spring.

Why do they think a newcomer to the world of photography would pick a Pentax DSLR over a mirrorless from one of the majors given that they're all the rage these days?

That's fairly impressive. It manages to outdo most of the FF sensors it looks like.

That's entirely circumstantial. I've had my K-70 work fine in -35 C, but I also have had it have difficulties accessing the memory card in -15 C.
In any case even if it doesn't work, you're quite unlikely to do any long-term damage from using it in the cold. Just make sure you leave the camera sitting in the bag for a few hours after you bring it indoors to prevent rapid heating and condensation inside the camera.
The main would be about batteries: have a few of them and keep them warm. I typically carry mine tucked between my neck and the scarf for easy accessibility. Once the batteries get cold they will die after a few shots, it's fine. Give em a couple of minutes and they'll work again for a few more shots. If not, swap it for a warm one. I found a coin to work well in opening the battery compartment when wearing thick gloves.
If the camera dies after a shot or two it may be better to keep it empty and only insert a battery when you actually need it. Pain in the ass, I know, but that's about the only option.

Lake Baikal - the deepest and largest by volume freshwater lake in the world
Though the lake itself isn't particularly visually appealing most of the year, there's beautiful scenery all around and the lake gets covered in gorgeous ice - hoping to see that this winter.

I'm sure this plan would fit on these panels somehow, but I'm too lazy for that
In all fairness though, I think that online marketing is the way to go, but with the way Pentax has been treated by certain "influencers", I highly doubt many would give it a second glance.

I open both eyes when I'm looking for a flying bird: match the focusing grid the right eye sees with a small bird the left eye sees, move the grid a little to the right, there's the bird in the viewfinder.
In most other cases I keep my left eye shut when I'm looking through a viewfinder: I'm left eye dominant and the moment I open it, it takes priority over the right eye looking through the viewfinder.

That is simply not correct, unless you're shooting from different distances to get the same frame.
As long as you don't put full frame glass on them.

Haha, that might have been me. I remember leaving a joking comment like that on one of Sony Northrup's videos. ---------- Post added 09-14-20 at 04:53 PM ----------
More expensive and bulky than what DSLR FF exactly? I, for one, can't think of any that would be more compact than, say, an E-M1. Besides, there's a lower threshold in terms of how compact a camera can be without causing discomfort.
Again, I can't see that being true. There certainly are lenses that are fairly close in size and weight to their FF counterparts, but on average m4/3 lenses are both smaller and lighter.

Not really, the nomenclature for f stops means focal length divided by number, so in case of 50 mm f/1.4 you get 50/1.4=35.7mm. 50/1.8=27.8, so you don't need as big of a front element compared to 1.4, therefore it is smaller.
Because it is redundant. The light gathering ability is fully reflected in the f number. You can't make a 50mm focal length lens with a 28 mm front element and call it a 50 mm f/1.4.

I'm not going to give any specific numbers, but the growing pains will end. 10 or even 5 years ago wirrorless were still mostly marginal with DSLRs still occupying the vast majority of the professional market. Now that Canikon are ditching their DSLRs in favour of mirrorless, their development will accelerate rapidly.

No, Sony, it's not because of you. It's because with an OVF the focal plane of your eye lies where the subject is and not a couple of cm into the camera. Since your eyes can't focus independently of each other, every time you take your eye off the EVF to look at your subject, you have to refocus. No such need with an OVF.
In all fairness, this is about the only issue that an EVF can not be cured of, period. All the other stuff (the lag, the blackout, etc) I think will be remedied over time.

If you're adamant on getting just a body, get a KP.
However, looking at your lens selection coupled with your criteria (sports, wildlife), I'd recommend getting a K-70 and a 55-300 PLM instead of your 50-200 for change. It may be stretching your budget a little, but I think that would be the best image quality you'd get with your criteria and your budget. It is in fact a combo I use, you can see what it's capable of over at my flickr.

I use Rawtherapee for my editing and a couple home-brewed Python scripts for file organization.
Rawtherapee is a little daunting, but it has pretty good documentation and is completely free.

Slap a battery grip onto the Sonya and you'll get comparable size. Besides, it's a human that's going to be holding the camera and human hands are fingers are only this small. ---------- Post added 08-01-20 at 03:27 AM ----------
Well what do you expect a marketing big cheese to say? That the company will be shut down in half a year time? Can you imagine how much money they would be losing by saying so?
