I own the GR and the iii. Never used the flash on the GR, and even if I did I would still choose the iii by a wide margin. The sensor is much less noisy. The immage stabilization lets me push the iso way down. I much prefer the user interface and touch screen. The macro mode is great. I shoot raw + and prefer all the new b&w in camera options over the previous GRs. I could keep waxing on and on but this post is long enough.

Hey all. I was active on this forum a few years back and saw this post and thought the below would be helpful. My wife suprised me with a griii in March. I got one of the first batch that shipped from Amazon. Batteries and ac chager were not yet available so I bought the following and they work like a charm.

The camera rocks...in my opinion far superior to the 16mp in every respect except battery life.
The 21mm adaptor lens from the previous version works just fine if just a bit softer around the edges...artistic.
The macro adaptor lens provides incredible magnification and is sharp as hell, but for all intent and purposes is almost touching the subject at the closest focus distance. Of course you have to by the new connector bayonet for them to work.
