Yes. :)
I use it mostly for IR (Kolari Vision IR Chrome) - the colors are orange not red, but still I like the effect.
For me it is much better. And the focal range is much better.
I've just got IR1000 filter - but I have to test it. On my Tamron 70-200/2.8 it miss focus :( (On the other hand I remember that I had to send this lens for recalibration with my K-1).
If you can wait few days, I'll report how it works with IR Chrome, and some other IR filters.

I've already bought my lens and I am strongly satisfied.
I didn't notice any hotspot - but I didn't look hard. I wanted to buy a dedicated IR Chrome filter, but I didn't. I tested it with magnetic mount for my 82mm lens (via filter redution) - unfortunately there was heavy vignetting at wide angle. :(
Interestingly, I am able to screw 82mm through the filter reduction inside the lens hood. :)
Cheers to the removable piece of the lens hood. :)
Now I'm waiting for the IR 1000nm - it will be here in a few days (I took the 77mm - because from time to time it will go with the Tamron 70-200/2.8).

Yes, I've needed some adjustment for using 150-450 with 1.4x pentax teleconverter - now I don't (but haven't got time for serious tests). As far as I do remember it was around 3 or 4 (don't remmeber if + or -), while just the lens was ok.
I've did done test by putting my camera on the solid tripod, use AF with viewfinder, then switch to live view with focus peaking extract edge - this quickly show the sharp focus distribution. I've repeated those steps a couple for time for 150-450 and +1.4x - it seems to look great.
In the past I've got hangs of the camera (sometimes I even had to take out the battery) - since 1.40 beta it is mostly (or even completely) gone.
My Pentax DFA 100 macro was so out of focus, that it was unsuable (unless I did manual focus), now it is looks to be right on spot.
So yeah, from my point of view it is great. :)

Much better AF for me. :)
I've had issues with camera hangs before (solved with beta 1.40).
I've had issues with AF and some lenses (solved since beta 1.40).
I have to make more tests, but basic tests tells me, that I do not need AF adjustment anymore for my 150-450, 55-300 PLM and 1.4 teleconverter. :)

I have 1.40 beta - works fine for me.
I've had some lockups (camera hangs) with older firmware (I think including latest official). Now I do not have those issues (or they are so rare, that I do not remember).

Thanks, I have both (I've bought them as kit a decade ago).
18mm is not wide enough, 55mm is a little to short. :)
I do not like mine 50-200. :(
I have new 16-50 PLM (great lens on K3 III, but wide open on k-01 is not a good idea for landscapes).
16-85mm will be like 28-105 on my K-1 - the most used lens. :)
The only question is how to find out that it will work with IR without spending 700+ USD on the lens and 200+ USD (VAT, customs) on the filter for that lens.
I would like to be sure that if I spend around 1k USD I will have great lens with IR chrome filter hidden inside lens shade (protected).

Have you tested 16-85 with IR (fullspectrum K-01)?
I'm thinking of buying one + dedicated IR Chrome filter.

I've just managed to create ID and download firmware.
The URL for creating ID is: https://ricohimagingstore.com/customer/account/create/
The trick is, that it didn't worked for me when using google translate, so I've just open 2 tabs with the same URL:
one with translation, one without. I've filled fields without translating that page and it worked. :)
When you fill the address the field "Prefectures" is automatically set according to your postcode - so that might be another issue.
As for the address - I've used google maps to find some address with post code in Japan. :)
After creating account you will find beta firmware at: https://ricohimagingstore.com/customer/account/
If that still doesn't work for you.
The manual is available at: https://ricohimagingstore.com/media/wysiwyg/pdf/astrotracer_type3.pdf
For firmware change the URL accordingly:
last directory in url - change from pdf to zip
file name is: k3III_v140.zip
Software Terms of Use are just the same as for normal firmware.
Have fun. :)

I've just checked my K-3 III.
6192*4128 pixels means 25.56mp. and that is 57.51mp FF (if I'm correct with sensor sizes of K-3 III and FF).
So I would say that yes - you are right (probably some slight differences in sensors sizes that I've missed).

Full agree.
BTW nice photo. :)
Right now we have K-3 III with 24mp. The same pixel density on FF is 54mp. So 60mp is nothing special from the lenses perspective.
From processing perspective it is just 2+ times more data (then in K3 III ) and Moore's law will take care of required processing power in 2 years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore%27s_law
M43 typically have 20mp that translate to 80mp FF (by using same pixel density and bigger sensor).
Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K (cinema camera) has sensor size 27.03mm x 14.25mm with 79mp (12,288 x 6480). That translates to 173mp FF sensor with the same pixel density.
So as Kunzite said I to think, that with current sensors we are far from technology limits for mega pixels (including resolving power of the lenses).
Personally I think, that new FF camera should have 8k+ horizontal resolution.
We might like it or not, but at home and companies the most common way to see big photographs is TV/monitor.
(The other trend is smartphone screen :( ).
We are at 4k now, slowly moving to 8k.
I can probably put 3-5 of my photos (40x60cm) on my walls (more will not fit).
At the same time I can display as many as I like on my 65" monitor (that is 60+cm of height).
We might like it or not, but that is (or is going to be) the display format of the future for the photos.

Yes, right now AF-C only works with PLM 55-300. It doesn't work with my D-FA 50/1.4. :(
AF-S where you can use touch screen or joystick to focus works with all AF lenses, that I have tested.
I think (hope) that we will have massive upgrade to video part quite soon. (i.e. as European I'm missing 25/50p).

First of all, please, thank Pentax/Ricoh for making great camera. K-3 III with PLM is great as photo camera. It allows me to take pictures that I thought were impossible. As for video it is quite a good one, but I think it can be even better. :)
1. Does Pentax planning to add some of K-3 III features to older bodies?
i.e. I would love to have Highlight-weighted metering in my K-1. Or focus peaking with extract edge.
2. Now that Pentax is the only solid DSLR manufacturer do they plan to have firmware releases with new features like other vendors do?
3. The most important set of questions for me are K-3 III and video related.
Video - K-3 III with PLM 55-300 lens is wonderful combination. The more I play with it, the more I like it. :)
3.1. When can we expect new video related features?
i.e. as European user, I'm missing 25/50p modes.
3.2. AF-C for non PLM lenses (like 150-450)?
3.3. Clean HDMI output?
3.4. 10-bit video?
3.5. Full sensor oversampling for video?
3.6. Extending time of video by automatically switching to new file when recording?
4. Is it possible to enable saving of photos/video to external USB drive (for K-3 III)?
Samsung T5 SSD are cheap and fast. It would be great if Pentax would allow us to use USB-C in the same way as BlackMagick does.
With the speed of T5 we could get unlimited burst mode. :)
5. And the last one. Any possibility to run my own programs on my K-3 III (as it is using Linux)? ;)

Jpeg size is in my case 2.55 smaller then DNG.
I have V90 cards in both slots (smaller in slot 2). Video goes to slot 2.
I've just looked at modification times of both DNG and JPG - and it looks like JPG modify time is up to 1 second faster then DNG.
But some times (after longer bursts) it can be up to couple of seconds faster. Probably after filling the buffer.
I guess I'll have to check that. :)

Thanks for the info. In that case, it makes sense.
I have both 150-450 and 55-300PLM (and K-3 III) and for me 55-300 PLM is better at tracking BIF then 150-450.
For sure it is much easier to track birds with lighter lens, so it probably is my lack of good technic for lens that long. :)
I have some issues with HD 1.4TC on K-3 III and 150-450 (I suspect that I have to learn how to use lens that long, and/or do some AF fine tunning).

Sorry for going of topic, but I have Irix 15mm - great lens, but it is so HUGE that I'm not using it.
I takes to much space to fit it in my backpack. :(
With lens hood it is 11.4 cm in diameter! (150-450 hood diameter is 11.9cm)
For UWA I prefer 12mm Laowa (a little bit heavier, but much smaller in diameter) - also great lens. It has traveled a lot with me (some times just in my jacket pocket to the airplane). I have adapter for 95mm filters from Laowa too.
To be on topic again - I'm waiting for new 16-50. :)

Single digit number of weeks?
Double digit number of weeks?
I think I'll buy one for AF-C video. :)

I'm impressed with K 3 III + 55-300 PLM performance.
AF is great , quality is great, high ISO is great. Weight is awesome.
I'm curious what is the equivalent of this combo in another systems?
