I purchased the lens in Canada the summer of 2019 prior to a European River Cruise in August. I tested the lens at home prior to departure and all seemed well. Shortly After arriving in Europe the lens would not focus properly unless it was zoomed out all the way. When I returned home I sent it in for warranty and when I received it back in December (had it shipped to catch up to me in Arizona) it seemed to be OK.. They told me all the internal motors and mechanics had been replaced. In January 2020 we're off to Maui. Out on a whale watching tour amid numerous whales displaying behaviours I had never seen before (eg. whales breeding) and others. Lens is not working, Will not focus at all. When I get back to the condo, in a quieter environment, when I tip the lens I hear a clunking sound - lens is obviously toast. At no time was this lens dropped or abused in any way. I returned the lens when I arrived back home for a full refund. Still looking for/deciding on a replacement.

This is a firmware issue. The current firmware for the K5 is ver 1.16 although the first upgrade after ver 1.00 is supposed to fix the issue. I did an Upgrade on my K5 yesterday and "voila". No more issue.

SanDisk and Pentax both state these should be compatible however my experience is they are not. I spent 2 hours with the SanDisk techies this morning troubleshooting the issue. I've left the issue with SanDisk techies and they are getting back to me in a few days. I will post any new useful information when received.
