Schneider/Pentax 12-24mm f/4. My other digital lens is a Pentax DA 16-45 f/4 which does very well too. Though I did not really need it, I got the 12-24mm lens with a Samsung GX-20 camera body in a clearance sale at a price I could not refuse. It seems to remain on the camera most of the time. If exchanged, a manual focus prime lens takes its place.

In 1981, I wanted to buy a mechanical system camera and lenses. After scouring the camera magazines, it narrowed down to two systems, Pentax with the MX and Olympus with the OM-1n. Of the two, the Olympus OM-1n was probably the better camera with superior lenses but I had to have a 400mm lens for bird photography and I could not afford the 400mm Zuiko lens. So I bought the Pentax MX body and a number of Pentax-M lenses. I was not aware of the Pentax K lenses and Hongkong's inventory turnover was so rapid that none would have been found by 1981. I still have two MX bodies and Pentax-M lenses from 28mm to 400mm. When digital came, I waited till something came along which suited my needs. Then I bought the Pentax K200D and the Samsung GX-20 bodies and 16-45mm and 12-24mm lenses. All the Pentax-M lenses work on both bodies, with some qualifications, of course. The Carl Zeiss Jena 35mm and 50mm M42 mount lenses work with adapters, albeit with some limitations.
I am not that intensive a photographer as to want to change to a new system but I might consider buying a new DSLR APS-C body.

Seems to be an excellent lens with a mild warm tint. Or is the warm tint from the camera or other settings?

Thanks for the link to the SD card article. A local software champ had said they would work but I had my doubts.

Samsung Evo 64 Gb and 128 Gb SDXC cards are on offer on an electronics website at a reduced price.
I use the following two cameras:
Pentax K200D and Samsung GX20. Both cameras have the latest firmware issued for them by the manufacturer.
2. I doubt if these two SDHC cards will work in the cameras I use. Could someone confirm please or correct me if they think these cards will work.
Thanks.

I am reviving this old thread as an update. I have noticed unusual behaviour of the Flektogon 35mm f.2.4 used with a Samsung GX20 camera. I am using the same generic M42 to K-mount adapter which is the subject of this thread. It is without a flange and spring locking plate. The adapter remains on the lens.
I tested the lens by focussing on distant objects approximately 100 metres away. The focussing LED lights up at a point between the infinity mark hard stop and the last mark at 10ft on the focus indicator ring. Sometimes it lights up at the infinity lock or remains unlit there. On car number plates at that distance, there is a very slight difference in sharpness, with the pictures taken with the LED lit just before the infiinity mark appearing slightly sharper. Since the viewfinder of a DSLR is rather dim it is difficult to see if a distant object is in focus with a 35mm lens.
At the near focus end, the focussing wheel hard stop is at a point a little more than 8mm beyond the last 0.2m minimum focus mark. I am able to take the front element of the lens to abut 15 cm from the object and retain focus. I assume this means that the distance from the object to the sensor is 20 cm, i.e. the specified near focus limit.
I posted these observations on Manual Focus Lenses Forum and, from the replies received, the following are germane:
i) The adapter is too thick.
ii)The lens is focussing beyond infinity.

Superb images, Nos. 714-717. Some of them are quite astonishing for their colour depth, sharpness and vibrance. Has someone written about the reason why the K200D is able to achieve such images? Of course there is the photographer's skill and the light, but this often underrated camera can still take very good pictures.
Best wishes,

Nice pictures John Rudolph and Milkman. K200D works very well if you know its limitations. An old picture is attached. I used the the K200D yesterday with a CZJ Flektogon 35/2.4. Except that one couldn't set Manual White Balance it did very well in all daylight shooting.
Best wishes

Impressively and plausibly sharp.Do you think that the NEX-5N's sensor contributed anything to the sharpness, or was it all the Pentax-M 75- 150 f4-5.6

I found that Pentax was the only company which was making a system 400mm lens that I could afford. Thereafter, I accumulated several more Pentax-M lenses. Though the shortcomings of the first generation Pentax digital cameras were evident, there was no cause to change to a different system and discard the lenses I already had.

As we are moving to another country, I need to give a quick estimate to the movers for insurance on my photographic equipment. I would be obliged or some advice from members on the estimated market value of the equipment if sold on the internet. Over the counter prices for used equipment are often slightly higher.
Pentax MX black 1981 in poor condition
Pentax MX black 1981 in good condition serviced by Eric Henderson.
Pentax K200D 2008 from Adorama 6000 shutter actuations. Single fine scratch on LCD. Otherwise quite clean
Samsung GX20 2009 7000 shutter actuations. Quite clean Lenses SMC Pentax-M
28/2.8
35/2
50/1.4
100/2.8
80-200/4.5
400/5.6 blooming on front element; a few dings on barrel; collimation perfect. All other Pentax-M lenses in very good condition with clean optics
Schneider D-Xenon 12-24/4 flawless
Pentax DA 16-45/4 optically flawless but rubber on focussing wheel showing agee
Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 35/2.4 with K-mount adapter. Some screwdriver marks on screws. Optically flawless
Estimates on individual items would be useful. If too much bother, a lump sum estimate would suffice.
Many thanks

This is an incomplete reply as I use the K200D and the Samsung GX20 mostly with manual lenses (these manual lenses are mostly SMCP-M; exception is the M42 screwmount CZJ Flektogon 35/2.4). With an LL-60 screen installed, GX20 gives broadly accurate exposure with manual lenses with some inaccuracy towards aperture extremes. With SMCP-DA lenses, +0.7 exposure compensation is needed to get a reasonably accurate exposure and multi-segment metering works best. In the K200D (not applicable in the present thread), most SMCP-M lenses meter quite accurately though occasionally I have found inconsistent exposure with these lenses, especially at extreme apertures (more so than with the LL-60 screen on the GX20). This is correctable by turning the aperture ring to openi up or close down a few clickstops. With SMCP-DA lenses the K200D underexposes in bright light, reportedly to protect highlights. Metering for both cameras was done with the green button and always in M mode.
2. Though it is convenient to use the SMCP-DA lenses even in M mode, my own preference is to use SMCP-M lenses, even though it means focussing manually and using the green button to stop down and get the shutter speed. The Flektogon requires the additional step of opening up the aperture to focus (so as to see clearly), closing it down to the requisite aperture stop and pressing the green button to get the shutter speed. . The main obstacle is the small APS-C viewfinder and its lack of brightness: it is difficult to see properly, particularly for people nearing their sixties.
