I don't know if I'm still in time for uploading a shot for this challenge, but here is one I shot a week ago. Cheers ---------- Post added 04-02-24 at 06:49 PM ---------- Well, I read the thread and a winner was already proclaimed! I hope to get to upload a photo in time next time! If it's a problem, I can delete the shot I uploaded, let me know. Have a nice day, see you soon

I guess that, as the others say, the 30 days free-trial DxO DeepPrime should be the best option to check if the raw files you have can be recovered. This program can do miracles!
Anyway, congratulations for the approval!

Playing around with my beat up, generic 500mm lens coupled with a Kenko 2X teleconverter, I catched a brief moment of loneliness, up where only those who want to refrain from others seek comfort and peace ;)
Jokes apart, I don't know if the site's resolution limit allows to see what's at the top of this tower, but I found it amusing to catch this seagull up there, all alone, probably having the time of its life.

New jasmine plant at home, so I had to capture the beauty of its newly bloomed flowers! They smell fantastic too! I'm growingly appreciating the Auto Revuenon, it gives me nice colours and contrast with the resulting photos when working with minimal PP. Also, the Kenko 2X teleconverter doesn't seem to affect the overall quality of the photo. Thanks for visiting!

I bought this lens a few weeks ago and yesterday I finally had the chance to test its limits. Well, wide open this lens is VEEERY dreamy, so retaining detail can be a challenge, but close-ups turned out well in my opinion. As well as the Auto Revuenon, I also used a Kenko 2X extension tube, which allowed me to shoot at the equivalent of 150mm (adjusted to the APS-C sensor of my K-70).
Why I entered this contest, I have to say, is purely by chance. It has been a while since I last logged in, and today I asked a question about a problem I was having with a lens I bought a few days ago. Then I saw that the theme of this month's contest was flowers, and flowers have been the main subject of my shots lately, what luck!
So here I am, this submission also marks my first participation in monthly contests here.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

Now that I straightened the lever, the camera correctly recognizes the lens, I can decide which aperture use through the dial when the A setting is engaged and set the aperture on the aperture ring of the lens when using in manual mode. ---------- Post added 03-28-24 at 10:58 PM ----------
Well, all in all I paid around 40$ for the lot, so it was a risk I was willing to take, and it went fine. I had a similar, less pronounced problem years ago, now that I remember, with an Auto Chinon 50mm f1.7 (great lens btw, so sad that I lost it!), and my problem with this lens was similar to the one you described. The difference bewteen the two lenses, this pentax-A and the Chinon is that the Pentax aperture lever was much stiffer than the Chinon's when i tried to bend it.

Here is a shot from a couple of minutes ago, with minimal PP made in camera. The camera registered the aperture value as intended (f3.2)

Thanks both for your replies. I did the "surgery" on the lever, with the precaution you mentioned and now the lens works as intended, both in manual and when A mode is engaged

Hi everyone, I recently won an auction where one of the lenses in the lot was a Pentax-A 50mm. Until now, I only had Pentax-M, F, DA lenses, so it was the first time I tried a lens with these specs. I noticed two problems, as per title, that I hope I can solve with your help.
Let's talk about the first issue: the bent aperture lever/pin (correct me if I'm calling it wrong). It is causing some issues when I mount the lens on both my Pentax cameras (a K-50 and a K-70). The attached photo shows the damage.
On the K-70, I can shoot but I can't change aperture, it will always shoot wide open even if I turn the aperture ring and select different aperture values.
On the K-50, it will change aperture manually when the lens is mounted but setting the lens on A will result in fixed maximum aperture at f22 even if I change the aperture value through the dial. Additionally, the lens causes problems to the mirror, because it will not shut down correctly (i have to be honest, I was worried that that could break something in the mirror's mechanisms).
The second problem has to do with using this lens in aperture priority mode, because I can't use it in A mode with neither my cameras.
So, I would like to ask you: is this an easy repair? Should I just bend and straighten the pin/lever? What about the aperture issue? Is this normal with Pentax-A lenses? Shouldn't them work similarly to Pentax F lenses, apart from autofocus?
P.s. Apart from the issues I listed here, the lens seems to work fine optically and mechanically.

I see your point. Personally, My first real, serious experience with photography was with my Zenit 122, and it really helped me develop consciousness about ISO, aperture and shutter time like no digital camera could. I shot on color film and made it developed by a studio. Then I bought my Pentax K-70 and here we are, after a couple years of using it and a digital compact Canon camera, back to film again. So, I understand your point, but to me using bulk film looks like a little, new, interesting challenge.

Thanks. Being my first times, I am looking for the cheapest options for building up the right experiences in the processes behind film development. Then yes, after this "training" time, I will surely look into more refined results, starting from the type of film to the chemicals involved in the process. At this point, I think I will try with Foma products all along the line and see how things go. ---------- Post added 07-27-22 at 01:21 PM ----------
Thanks for the feedback on these products. Maybe, in the future, I will try caffenol development, it seems really interesting to get these kind of results thanks to everyday ingredients. ---------- Post added 07-27-22 at 01:25 PM ----------
Thank you for your comment and for the useful link, I will surely look for any info about the products I am going to buy. I will probably go for powder chems, I like the fact that I can store them more easily. ---------- Post added 07-27-22 at 01:31 PM ---------- One last question for you all: how does it work for bulk film? I checked Foma films and 17 meters of film come for a really good price (25 euros without shipment). I saw that both empty film cartridges and reloading machines are sold, but are the latter needed for reloading these cartdirges? Is there a way to load them manually?

Thanks for your reply. The guide you linked seems comprehensive of what I need, this is what I needed.
I was not considering this. I am not planning on shoot a lot of rolls, at the beginning, so I guess it could be fine to buy smaller amounts of developers for trying everything out, while purchasing a larger amount of fixer in order to use it both now and later, for rolls I could plan to develop in the future.
You made a valid point.
I am sure I will be happy to make them! Thanks again!

Hi everyone. I would like to ask you a couple of questions about film development.
I am totally new to it, and I'm pretty confused about what kind of chemicals I should choose (I am interested in B&W film photography). I already read how the liquid ones would make my life a bit easier rather than paying attention to carefully dilute the powder ones, but I don't really see it as a problem. Apart from this, do you have a preference between them? Is there a sensible difference in how I should store them? Using powder chems would let me have much more uses per pack as compared to liquid ones at a similar price?
As per title, the second question regards which brand would be the best for what concerns quality/price. In particular, I am particularly interested in the prices Foma.cz has for its line of products, from film rolls to chemicals. What is your experience with these products? Do you know about cheaper o similar alternatives?

I have a couple more questions, sorry :D
1. Do you know if there is a comprehensive guide for film developing here on this blog I could check out?
2. I have a couple of m42 lenses (coupled with a Petri and a Zenit bodies), other than the film era lenses I use with my digital Pentax, so my question is: If I wanted to buy a film era Pentax body, would it be fine to buy a m42 body, or would it be better to choose a K mount one? I'm not really interested in having automatic settings or TTL, so I wouldn't care much about getting the most advanced and expensive bodies from that era.
If you got here at the end of my post, then thanks for your patience.

Yeah, coming from analog era lenses (apart from the DA L18-55mm), the improvements in sharpness and general ease of use are great. The next step is maybe a Pentax DA 35mm, a 55-300mm or a good third party prime lens. Thanks for your feedback

You're right, but we're talking about the top tier and newest camera Pentax sells and a pretty expensive 50mm lens, we should hope to see these kind of improvements on every camera and lenses in the future
