Thanks for the welcomes.
I very recently purchased a Sigma 75-300mm manual lens, hoping i could get some detail without becoming dinner!
Anyone feel a teleconverter might be necessary?
I am hoping to travel light, enjoying the wildlife and scenery, grabbing pics where i can but some have advised me to "enjoy but not constantly through a lens" which seems like decent advice.

I took delivery of my K3 + 18-50 last week. Grabbed a couple of shots of my horticultural endeavours, then went walkabout my locale over the sunny/overcast weekend. these were taken using AF mode, Aperture priority.

I have ordered a Adaptall 2 > Pentax adaptor, and will try my Tamron lenses on manual/focus peaking when possible.

thoughts/comments appreciated!

Hello once again.

I have finally found a K3 - Ebay (UK) including(18-55) kit lens for £430. It's supposed to have only 200 actuations, with charger, strap etc. Due to arrive this week from a reputable seller. (i believe)

I will retain some of my manual lenses, though i might need new adaptors while i look for a little more AF glass. Also suggestions as to worthwhile accessories, (case, batteries etc) bearing in mind that i may have limited access to mains power would be appreciated.

Once it's here, i'll take it walkabout my little town and share.

Current gear
Sony A6000 with 16 - 50mm AF

Vivitar 28-85mm
Tamron adaptall 2 35 -135mm
Tamron adaptall 2 70 -210mm

Tokina 50-250mm

All completely manual lenses.

Thanks to all for kind welcomes and comments.
Looking through my amazon order this morning - it now seems that the K3 kit i ordered earlier in the week is 'not currently available' - Why do some sellers advertise items the dont actually have?

Slightly irritated now!

Many thanks for your kind words.

I thought the first owl looked studious or grumpy?

I do have Tokina 50-250, which seems good also, but again, it's a totally manual lens. I am not concerned about the setup, but will be disappointed to miss a leaping leopard, of galloping gazelle because i cannot alter focus quickly enough!. (i am no spring chicken any more!)

I have perused these forums in the past, seeking guidance, and appreciate the experience and wisdom which resides here...

thanks!

Hello

I'm Alan (Al), located near Bristol, UK.
I have been taking photos for as long as i remember, starting with an old Praktika manual, through Minolta M300, a few point and shoots, most recently, i am using a Sony A6000 mirrorless.
Image quality from this is far superior to anything i've previously had. I've been using it in semi-manual mode with completely manual lenses - with adaptors, with some degree of success. Sony E-mount lenses seem to be very expensive!

However, a recent visit to a 'bird of prey' centre, suggests that moving subjects are much more difficult to capture with a good degree of sharpness.

Images were taken with A6000 + tamron adaptall 2 70-210. aperture priority.

Wife and I are off to Kenya later this year and part of my reason for joining up here at Pentax Forums, is that i have bought a 'used - like new' Pentax K3 during the amazon prime time... with a 16-50mm + 50-200mm kit. Camera body and lenses are supposed to be weather resistant, and with better battery life, which should be helpful.

I'd welcome suggestions/comments/thoughts on my images, and ideas on whether the K3 is an appropriate tool for an african adventure - longer reach lenses? Plenty of 70 > 300 ish on ebay for example...
