Well it might not be straight on. So that is potentially between the seat and the shutter button. I will try to make the next photo more carefully. Lets see if the card is actually rectangular.

Hello all. I picked up the refurbished 35 Limited from Ricoh for a nice price. I have no idea why it needed to be refurbished and I haven't used it much yet. This is the back of a playing card, wohoo! So, can anyone have a look and see if there are any glaring issues with this lens? I have 14 days to send back. Glad for any input. And I will try to share some nicer photos soon.

Thanks Ahead of time.

I realize I posted this back in December and now it is March. We had Clouds and more Clouds those evenings as well. However, I will recall this post for the next event and I have lots of good info to get started for next time. Thank You all for the information.

I have several lenses that are on the wide side to try out. Pentax 10-17Fisheye, 20-40L, 16-45, 40L, and DFA*50 on my new KP.

I have a Farpoint Snap-In 77mm Camera Filter Bahtinov on order which will fit my Tamron 70-250 2.8. Would it be good to use stepdowns with this or should i get a dedicated 55 for the 20-40 which is probably my best glass at 20. Also is there a mount for one of these to go on the fisheye? I really need help with focusing as my one good eye requires coke bottle bottom glasses. Its been miss and miss and hit whether the stars are points or bulbs in my attempts at stars.

I have obtained a Pentax Astro Tracer O-GPS-1. Im getting the calibration to where it says completed. But sometimes it says done before I get to the third plane. So i am not sure if I am doing it correct at all. I am turning it around a full 360 on each plane. Am I supposed to turn it back and forth on each plane?

Gorgeous Pics. I have been going back and forth from this lens to the 100 macro and back and forth. You might have just made up my mind since i do shoot apsc- and do not aspire to ff.

I have been using my Red K-50 since new. THe K-50 replaced my K10D. The KP came yesterday Saturday from Adorama with the really nice free flash and a sling bag which may arrive later?

First thoughts.

Wow this camera is small in my hands. I have ordered a battery grip because when holding with one hand my pinky has no grip and this KP feels heavier. Well it is a metal framed camera.

I did not realize the K50 was a plastic body. Just did not think about it. Thank Goodness it hasn't had any collisions. I went and tried on my K10D and yup similar weight but also the K10D is bigger physically so more grip.

I like the silent electronic shutter. I haven't figured out how to not turn off shake when using electronic shutter. I really like that i don't have to reset the date time with every battery change.

Im loving the extra ISO room. I am trying to use the PLM with the x1.4 and at 300mm its 420mm and f9.5 and its better with the KP - which is keeping the 150 - 450 at bay for now. Also in a pinch i can back it off to where it drops to f8 and still be around 350mm. Yes i realize it is a crop already so multiply by 1.5 again. But the point is it is reaching the Cardinals and Woodpeckers and filling more frame and the KP does a nice job with iso.

That tilt screen is awesome. I have to admit mounted on a tripod, looking almost straight up at the stars i was having a hard time with the stationary lcd. This tilt screen is such a nice feature. I understand its not the super duper K-1 screen- but still this is nice. This kind of screen should be on the K3-3. Or mayhaps they will build a KP II? Wishful thinking on my part.

Pentax if your listening. Here is an idea for you. Sell camera body styles which can then be loaded with Motherboards of differing price points -some apsc some FF and maybe one med frame board. I see a lot of Pentaxians commenting- this button is in the wrong place or I wish I could just keep my body and upgrade with a new board - well that is really my thought. I love how the K10 feels. It is to bad I cant buy KP guts to go in the K10 for instance. Except for the screen tlt. I do not thing this is a fad. It is useful and will be used many times.

Anyway we will see how far this gets. Probably not to far. oh well. I am loving my new KP. Yes reading the manual as i go.

TonyW that picture is amazing with the wide angle and resolution where the boat names are readable in those tiny crops. Is this a single shutter click? HDR? other? Wow just wow.

Thank You for showing this.

I haven't run into 'to many megapixels' issues. I am looking forward to the new KP I just ordered so still not looking at 36MP or more.. In FF I see 36MP 40MP 50MP 100MP?options. If brand x and Y are pushing then perhaps that is why I like Pentax. The improvements are in the use of the camera and the convenience of using old glass and new as well as a few MP here and there.. If they are cranking out devices it is due to perceived demand , right? And if the demand dries up then they will find another business model.

Hello fellow Pentaxians.
To me the unwashed hobby photographer. My question becomes. If I take a 35mm film photograph and a digital photograph both of the same iso, fstop, shutterspeed -all else being equal. Then print out the film pic in largest beautiful size. And then the digital image at the same size. At what point in Mega Pixels is the digital as good as the film shot? At what point is the digital better? Are we already there? Will we ever be there? Yes I shoot Pentax aps-c(k50), so will this format ever be as good as film 35mm? Is it already?

many thanks.

thanks kwb

oh your correct jbinpg. I see my date is correct but the time is 12 hours off. Should be just before 9 pm ET. I hate that the date needs to be set every time there is a battery change. I have many pics taken on 1/1/2013. Ah well.

The obect near the middle is Procyon which is one of the two stars in Canis Minor. according to nova.astrometry.net.
That was fun.
Thanks again
