Hi

I just bought a Takumar SMC 55mm f2 M42 lens, which I knew needed cleaning inside, but I was interested to do the job and am generally quite capable manually.

However - I'm not sure if this model I have to first unscrew the front face plate to access the screws beneath it, or whether I simply unscrew the lens barrel?

Both appear quite tight...

The lens is one of the later series ones (s/n 7048272), with the rubber grip, and it is the SMC model.

Is anyone able to kindly advise? Many thanks.

Hi

I'm a newbie here - very pleased to meet you all.

I've just bought a Pentax Spotmatic SP500 with a Takumar SMC 55mm f2 and a Super Takumar 135mm f3.5; I'll be looking for a 28 mm soon...I wanted to get back into B&W film photography, I aņos have a (sorry...) Nikon D700 DSLR, however I'm very much looking forward to getting back to 'manual' photography. I'm also thinking about developing my own film.

I'm English, but I Brexited about 16 years ago to Italy with my family and now live in Forli'. Luckily Italy presents lots of photo opportunities, and I want to develop my street photography further.

I also own a Rollei 35 TS which I also bought recently, which is a lovely little machine - these 60's and 70's cameras are so well made. Oh and I also have a Zorki 4K - simply because that was my first camera when I was 15....

Thanks - Andy
