Using flash with mirror lockup on 645Z

To clarify to all who have chimed in...

1. If you read my original post, nothing is mentioned on Live View and actually, the flash can be triggered in live view. The issue is there is a huge delay between images and if I was shooting static subjects it would not be a problem but I'm shooting live, moving subjects as the photo that I will upload shows.
2. Flash is on a remote triggered mounted on the hot shoe.
3. If the Mirror Lockup dial engaged, then the flash will not trigger and that is the issue.

So the issue is a slight delay from the time you press on the button of the cable release to the time the shutter activates, this delay is a split second but it could be slow enough for me to miss the action, so my thought was, if I have the mirror lockup activated then the camera will trigger faster, WRONG!!!!!

Thanks for all the guidance Gerbermiester and the rest of you fine folks but I give up, can't make this work. Maybe its because the flash in on a remote trigger but all my settings that all have suggested I had already done. Very weird but it's not a deal breaker, I can still do the shoots just have to anticipate the action and then trigger the cable release.

Hi all and thanks for all your feedback.

1. Flash works perfectly fine.
2. All setting on Manual, including manual focus.
3. Shake Reduction if off.
4. Lens is the 28-45
5. Slight lag occurs only when using cable release, longer lags occur if using remote camera trigger.
6. If using camera shutter button, then it's instant as it should be, but again, this lag occurs when using a cable release.
7. Flash works on M and X fine but the second I engage Mirror Lockup flash does not trigger...this is the question????

I am shooting animals in a studio setting and have a slight delay when using cable release so the idea of using the mirror lockup was instant trigger when pressing the cable release but because of the studio setting I need flash. Yes, all shooting is in manual.

Will flash work when activating the mirror lockup on a 645Z?

I have tried and have not been able to make this work. I use a remote to trigger the flashes but they don't work when mirror lockup is enabled.

Thank you techies out there for any imput.

SteveBrot - Have not noticed striping on any of the previous images and I don't have them as I deleted them.

UncleVanya - I applied the latest firmware so it's current

I should mention that I've had the camera for about 8 months and this has happened about 5-6 times out of a 1,000 images taken.

Service center, anyone recommend one, I live in Southern California.

Thank you all for your input. I'm going to do some testing to see if I can replicate the problem, i.e. listen to any anomalies when the shutter is released for example.

SteveBrot, it's remotely triggered by the Goddox remote. FYI, I'm responding to UngleVanya's post in a separate post but this has also happened in natural light so I don't think it's strobe specific.

UncleVanya, yes this has happened in natural light as well so I don't think it's strobe specific.

Hi Stevebrot, simple setup, studio setup with one large Octobox with a Godox AD600. I have to use a cable release because I'm photographing animals so the camera is about six feed away, flash above. Shutter at 1/125s, f11 aperture and ISO 100. Shooting with two cards and camera is writing to both of them, both are Lexmarks 150s 64GB cards.

Thank you for the feedback and yes, this is visible in the digital review right after the shot. This has happened about two or three times and it's been when I've had live view on. Very strange and I don't know what could be causing this. I bought this camera used from the original owner, he took care of his stuff like mint and this camera has very few actuations, it's in mint condition. Anyway, regarding shake, it's mounted on a tripod so the shake has been turned off.

---------- Post added 04-11-20 at 11:58 AM ----------

FYI, I'm shooting simultaneously to two cards, both are fast and brand new, the image is on both cards.

Hi you all, I have a 645Z and once in a while I get an image that appears as if it was double exposed, very strange. I'm attaching a photo so you can see. Any ideas, suggestions, etc... This happens with any lens by the way. Thank you for the help in advance.

Thank you Adam, I have tried that so unless my camera has another hidden location I have changed it from the first RAW which according to the manual is Raw and Jpeg to the second RAW which the manual says it's only raw but when I pull out my SD cards and download to PC I get both.

Hi Folks and once again sorry for the newbie question.

I have tried everything but all my images come out in JPEG and DNG, I don't want that, I only want DNG. Where can I change that? This is on a 645D.

Thanks for the help.

OMG, really? LOL, thank you. Interesting because all my filters are 150mm and the lens hood would be off anyway. OK, thank you for bringing light to the mystery Paul, I appreciate it.

This is not what I'm referring to, there is a cut-out on the barrel and a ring in there that you can turn right or left, it's not the autofocus ring.

I have looked everywhere and can't find any information on the SMC Pentax-FA 645 80-160mm F4.5, primarily what appears to be a focusing ring of some sort. I've rotated it on manual or autofocus with no visible difference so can someone please tell me what the heck is this for?

Thank you in advance and I'm sorry for the novice question.
