Hello all
I recently got round to reviewing the ES II for Kosmo Foto's YouTube channel to mark 50 years since it was released. You Tube |
src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/LBTmohyVK6Y?controls=1" allowfullscreen> |
Hands down this is my favourite SLR of all time. The video touches on Pennie Smith's use of the camera to shoot The Clash - and the cover of 'London Calling' - which is how I came across them.
Hope you enjoy the vid.
Cheers

I'm so impressed with this chunky compact, I've bought another!

Hello all - a very Happy New Year to everyone.
Last month Aaron Gold wrote a fantastic review of the ME Super on Kosmo Foto, and I thought I would share it here in case people hadn't seen it. Pentax ME Super review (Kosmo Foto)
Having concentrated on Pentax M42 stuff, I've finally got a couple of K-mount cameras in the last few months - a Zenit-KM Plus and a Vivitar 3000s -so looking forward to adding a few Pentax K bodies aswell.
Cheers

Greetings, Pentaxians
My good friend Nandakumar has made a couple of trips to the Indian Himalayas to document the people and landscape on film.
His most recent post has just been published on Kosmo Foto. The Indian Himalayas on medium format (Part Two)
He took both a Pentax 67II and the 645N. I think it's a testament to both cameras that they managed to soldier on in temperatures as low as 030C.
Hope everyone is coping with the various lockdowns OK.
Best
Stephen

Thanks for everyone who has commented. I'd like to echo some of those that responded so far - this was only intended as a bit of fun; I thought it might be an interesting way to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of Pentax. It's certainly put a few more Pentax bodies on my shopping list.
Also, I've picked the three winners for the prizes and notified, and I've deleted the list of emails.
Now - where to find a Pentax MZ-S?

Hello all
I hope everyone had a great Christmas.
I've published the results of the poll to find the favourite Pentax film camera - see below: Greatest Pentax film camera
I'll be choosing three winners from the list of people who took part and then deleting the email list.
Thanks so much to everyone who took part - nearly 700 people took part.

No problem - as long as you can answer it in case you win the prize! Like I've said, this is not for marketing purposes, I have a really nice little film-related thing launching in the next few days and I'll make a few available to people who took the time to vote. If I can get over 1,000 votes, I'll offer more.

By that I meant manual-only as in manual-focus, I can state that more clearly. And the Spotty wasn't really a pro-camera, more aimed at the advanced hobbyist.
Thanks for the shout out.

Thanks to everyone who's taken the time to vote.
I obviously won't be voting in the poll, since I'm running it, but if anyone's interested, here are my votes:
1) Pentax ESII: My favourite SLR of all time. I bought two of these after meeting Pennie Smith (of The Clash's 'London Calling' fame) still shooting with hers in the mid-2000s. I now have five. They're my travel cameras of choice. I ahve so many good memories shooting with my ESIIs.
2) Spotmatic F: Had one, sold it, regret it. The best enthusiast SLR of the manual days? Very possibly. I'm trying to buy no more new cameras in 2020 but will probably sneaks a couple of these into the shooting collection.
3) PC35 AF-M: The Leica M6 of cheap 80s AF compacts. Tack sharp lens, quiet, robust.
Cheers all!

Hi reh321
The only thing the email addresses will be used for is to pick the winner - I'm picking a voter at random for a prize as a thank you to everyone for voting.
After that, the list will be deleted. No-one will be added to any kind of marketing or email list whatsoever.
Thanks

Hello
Kosmo Foto is running a poll to find the community's favourite Pentax film cameras to help celebrate 100 years of Pentax.
You can see more details, and vote via the link below: Vote for your favourite Pentax film camera - Kosmo Foto
It would be amazing to have as many responses as possible from the Pentax Forums members.
Voting is open until 30 November, and the winner will be announced in December.
Many thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to vote.
Thanks
Stephen Dowling

Hello all
Last year, I met Brian May of Queen at an exhibition launch. The launch invites had a picture of him taking a mirror selfie with an ESII, my favourite SLR, back in the 70s.
I had a fantastic chat with him about the ESII and film photography, and remembered to bring my ESII with me when I interviewed him for the BBC a few months later... Single Frame: Brian May, in stereo - Kosmo Foto

Hello all
I knew that Asahi had bought the Pentax name from East Germany's VEB Zeiss Ikon Dresden.... but up until this week I didn't realise the East Germans had actually built a camera under the Pentax name. The first Pentax camera... was East German - Kosmo Foto
Really interesting camera - a shame it never made it to production, but it seems like it was too innovative ie expensive to produce for what would have been a small market.
Cheers

Hello Pentaxians
It's Stephen who runs Kosmo Foto here.
I've recently published a feature on the Pentax ESII, the camera that Pennie Smith used when she shot The Clash in New York - the gig that gave birth to the album cover of 'Lon don Calling'.
I met Pennie in the pit at a Manic Street Preachers show over a decade ago and she was still shooting on the same ESII she'd used that night. That was enough for me to start buying them, and they quickly became my favourite SLR. Pentax ESII: The camera that captured rock's most iconic photograph - Kosmo Foto
Have six ESIIs now, and a host of SMC Takumars - good enough for Pennie, good enough for me.
Cheers
