I have the old version and I must say that in the end it is the lens I use most for my street photography. I was aware of the limitations on the edges but the dimensions, portability, in the center it is good, unique starburst. to flare largely overcome the defects of the edges which are partly attenuated by always using it at f8. If I practiced architecture I wouldn't be so happy. Is there anything better? For quality yes, but I couldn't always have it in front of the camera or in a pocket. it all depends on what we're looking for in a lens.

In reality, at the moment it doesn't seem so certain to me that the k3III has been suspended or discontinued. At least by reading a bit on the various Pentax social networks and forums it doesn't seem so certain, in fact various opinions support the opposite.

I would say that we can exclude that they want to replace the k3III chain for the new GRIII variant.. :D
the positive thing is that they announce without warning, I hope it will be the same for Pentax very soon.
I don't know what, but it would be fine anyway.

Too bad because it would be a project that was not completed. They made a good camera and it wasn't supported by modern optics that could have enhanced it better.
But does Ricoh use the same production lines for GR and Pentax? Couldn't it be k1III instead of GR?

I actually don't consider the k3III very large. I generally use it with one hand with the small limited FA which compact its size. To tell the truth I don't have any particular problems even with the k1 which is slightly larger, but I understand what you're saying. I find the GRIII too small for me. :lol:
In fact, it is still an expensive camera. I sacrificed the k70 and various lenses but little by little I will buy some again, and at the moment I'm very happy.

Everyone seems to be focused on the film, let's hope that before the new compact they send out news of new lenses as indicated last August. A new 50-135 this year would be a nice sign.

the best lens optically is the 21 DFA as already mentioned. You can perhaps add the old FA star 24 f2 to the list. The others (21 DA, 20 FA, 15 DA) have other strengths in their size and portability, as well as being less expensive. They are compromises for some they are good for others not. Good Luck

Thank you. The focus peaking is present, but on the other Pentaxes that I have used (k30, K70, k1) for manual lenses there is a visual warning in the center that lights up when you focus manually. In the k3III monochrome I don't think so. Using DA lenses there is both. are two very useful warnings, I find it strange that they are not present. I see you have a kp, you can try it yourself.

Good evening, I added a monochrome K3III to my K1 and I'm discovering the camera. I noticed that K, M, A lenses in LV in focusing do not have the sound aid or even the central point illumination. Am I doing something wrong or don't they exist?

I have the k1 and the k3III mono will arrive this week. Practical street photography with standard setting f8 t1/500 automatic iso with range 100-6400. I'm not good at post production. On k1 sometimes 12,800 but with low light, in my opinion the chrominance noise was excessive. I took the monochrome because I think I can set up to 25,000 with a file that still remains pleasant. I will let you know.
