A monochrome render of an image from a garden I've been shooting heavily in lockdown. Spotted the curled nature of the flower bud, and had this image immediately in mind as a black and white before I even picked up the camera. I think it turned out okay.

I took this photo, or rather I took several dozen, playing with the exposure and f stop trying to separate the flower from the background. Ended up spending hours removing the background from the flower, only to decide it was then too boring, and putting back in some interest with the lens flare overlay.

Another flower picture from lockdown. I was getting some similar flaring from behind the flowers with my vintage lenses, but nothing pretty with the macro, which felt necessary to get close enough for this flower. So, there is more than a little poetic license in the edit here. I'm still not 100% sure it's very tasteful, but I quite like it.

A little flying thing on a flower. Sat patiently for a while on it while I took a few portraits of him. A most obliging subject, with friendly lighting that allowed me to give him a more interesting (non-black) background, and allowed me to avoid using any flash.

Giving my new lens a workout this weekend. A bit windy, so I had to hold the end of the branch steady against the lens hood with my left hand, whilst taking the photo with the other.

Hello to you all; new user alert.
I have always shot with Pentax cameras; I am the proud owner of a GCSE in photography (A* grade!) earned with my Dad’s hand-me-down ME super. I didn’t do a lot of photography for a while, then a few years ago, I inherited another cast-off camera of his, a Pentax DSLR that I forget the model of. This then got upgraded to the K70 I currently shoot with soon after, and I have been gradually upgrading from my kit lens. Really enjoying my 50mm f1.2 at present, as well as my 105mm macro, both with and without extension tubes.
I shoot mainly macro/still life stuff, and increasingly portraiture, now that I have improved to a level where the people in the pictures aren’t horrified by the results! Attached are a couple of recent snaps, assuming I have worked the technology correctly...
