Honestly, yes, I have some memorized.

The rest of the time I look through the lens review database here. If there is some debate, or there are multiple versions, i check google / seller's listed information.

Sorry, I do need something that'll take a 49mm filter. One major factor in this purchase is because I don't want to rebuy them all ;)

Looking for something in clean optical condition, needs to be 49mm filter size.

Probably means a Pentax M, but open to other(s).

Located in BC Canada. Trying here before looking through *bay.

If you want to sell an F1.2 for a reasonable price, I’d be interested but... I know what they’re currently selling for elsewhere, and that’s likely out of my price range.

Would prefer PayPal for the payment.

Good eye! Yes, this is the side of Baker you don't normally see ;)

Agreed, I'm not trying to state that there's anything wrong with the editing, I just want to be clear it's not SOOC. This is a commercial scan, so there is that layer of "control" taken away.

I recall my darkroom days, and to say that there was no editing then is an outright lie. The tools are different, but the goal is the same. The same goes for digital - so many people choose to shoot in RAW so they are forced to take care of the PP themselves. I believe that my goal is to use my camera (whichever one) to capture the best representation of the image in my mind, and then some editing after to get that much closer to the "ideal". Of course, just my two cents :)

Same testing, works well, but the pictures have some artifact in the upper right corner. I'll have to look at the camera to see if i missed some filth on the lens, etc.
Smoke was just starting to roll in, so some minor PP to try to bring up the contrast on the mountain.

RB67 Pro S, 127mm. Tri-X again.

So, in school I fell in love with an RB67. So, i bought one of my own. It had been used in a portrait studio, so had lots of extra bits and bobs attached to it. While great for value purposes, they didn't bring the same joy of use. So, after being dormant for... 10 years... it got pulled out, and stripped down. Took it to work, and tried to see my skills in hand holding it. Only editing is basic crop, and some dust/scan detritus removal.

ok, i gotta say i've been very mistaken about the 80s. I also have to hurry up and get a yellow filter that fits the lenses i actually use... That you all for shedding light on my error :)

Very cool, thank you for taking the time to show me this. Are your second and third picture filtered?

Also, i'm reluctant to google this (work computer), but can do it at home, but.... male and female portraits have different requirements? Does the skin have different colour reflection between the genders?

Thank you again, i'll add some 80S to my next order, maybe a roll of 400S too, just to balance it out.

Do you know where your camera body cap is ?

I think they're all somewhere in the mid-80s? I don't think i've ever received one with any camera i've bought (used, all of them).

I have a few lens end caps, which get used, the bodies all tend to live with a lens attached.

I've thought about sending them in for CLA, where the lack of caps causes a problem... I keep hoping to get one in a purchase, because they all seem to be going for premium dollars on the large online auction site.

I'm trying to find what I read...

Grainy and dark is what I remember reading, but i can't find it that description anywhere.

Eh, i'll admit my memory is fading. Either way, i'm now considering picking some up.

Based on website description, i didn't think i'd enjoy the retro 80s, but you have proven my assumptions incorrect. you have lovely contrast and tone in that shot. I love the dog's expression lol.

Very nicely done! Thank you for the tips. I should invest in an anti-static brush!

That roll was not scanned by myself, eventually i'd like to, but am reluctant to pull the trigger on a proper scanner. I have done all digital and all analog in the past, and I'll agree that the hybrid approach provides a lot of valuable benefits.

I've been eyeing up a super, maybe one in slightly nicer shape that what I have.

That being said, I still have the camera, i've just been busy, and had fewer opportunities to shoot. Unprecedented times and all...

I am hoping to have the chance to shoot a couple rolls through at the end of the month though, i'll find out if my cleaning work improved the results, or... put holes through the bellows...

If you want to mail your films across the continent, i can recommend my lab ;)

I'll absolutely try Portra 320, i'll post the results when they're available.

I do plan on doing some home scanning in the long term, I've just been a little cheap to pull the trigger on a halfway decent scanner. It'll happen, if only because i plan on going through some of my boxes of negatives. There's a euro trip from about 20 years ago that i'd like to be able to share with others.

Thank you for your time and help!

Same same but different - Pentax MX, A35-105, Portra 400. I don't mind the colours in this one.

I should inquire about that, although through the rest of the roll, some of them are more accurate. I am also using uncalibrated monitors. It's difficult to get ahold of anyone at that lab right now, i'm just happy they're still processing film.

No worries - they were shot at box.

Is this solveable by compressed air, or ??? or should this camera be decor instead (not worth replacing the bellows...)

Thank you,

I wiped off the front of the lens when i got it, so i think the dust is in the lens. was looking for confirmation while pondering how to take it apart lol. I mean, it was cheap enough to toss if i muck it up, but was hoping to keep it a little longer than that.

Thank you.

metering through the in-camera meter.

I have outsourced the scanning, it's done at the time of development.

Good morning all,

I apologize for the lack of pentax-ness on this question, but i'm hoping someone can shed some light.

Please see attached. This is from the first roll through my "new" Ikonta 521. Price was too good to not get it. Where are all the black bits coming from? Most (all but one) of the images have these somewhere, and they're all different. So, i'm pretty sure it's not lens scratches, etc.

What's dirty? Is it something I can clean? Damage from transport or processing? Otherwise, i'm pleased enough with the performance of the camera. Could use a CLA, but that's a challenge these days. Anything a minimally skilled person can rectify?

Thanks for your time.
Anthony
