I'm not entirely sure if this shot's beachfront, dunes and night sky count as "Landscape" but I used my coveted SMC Takumar 15mm f3.5 Landscape beauty so it's close enough for me.
Honestly, I have a bunch of BW glacier shots I just took this week in Alaska which are immediately more striking at first glance but there's so much more depth to this shot for me after just having recently spent a month bikepacking across the Baja backcountry.
This shot was taken while our expedition team awaited the dawn to start cycling. We paid a fisherman in a small village to take us across the Bay of Conception at 3 am so we could fat-bike approximately 100 miles along a remote section of beach. There were no water re-rations along this leg of the journey so we were committed once our small dingy departed.
The moments on that beach were so surreal. There was a full moon that morning and I snagged this photo right before it rose above the mountains on the other side of the bay to drown out the stars. I'm amazed that the individual in the shot stayed (relatively) still for the 61-second exposure. I used a small 5-lumen red keychain light to bathe the foreground for the composure. My spouse is huddled in the sleeping bag pile center-right.
Thanks for reading up on my photo.

Thanks for the nomination Mike. Sorry to hear about all your Wildland Fires down there in Australia. We've had many large fires in southcentral Alaska this past year as well.

First photo uploaded to the Pentax Community!
Alpineglow is a common occurrence during Alaskan winters, with short days and long sunsets and rises. This particular alpineglow was a real outlier, however, in its intensity. After more than a decade living in Alaska, I've never before witnessed such a painfully vibrant alpineglow. Believe it or not, I even reduced the saturation in this shot.
This photo was taken in the Talkeetna Mountains at Independence Mine State Historic Site up Archangel Rd after a fresh powdery snowfall.
Thanks for consideration in this contest and the amazing support and wealth of knowledge this community offers. Being new to Pentax, I find myself coming here often for expertise.

Howdy Friends.
I recently cracked my Pentax K-1 body and damaged the hotshoe right at the top of the body near the hotshoe. From my understanding this is a weakspot on the K1 models due to less metal framing to allow for the GPS signal to be magnified.
Is it possible to have this professionally repaired? is it possible to purchase just the hotshoe and replace that part along and use some kind of epoxy to fill in the crack?
The only functional damage which appears to be present is to the hotshoe and perhaps weatherproofing.
Thanks for any guidance you can provide. Shared album - Renaissance Cyclist - Google Photos |
