While I don’t have the 28-105, I can see how that one lens could essentially be all that you need for a majority of the shooting you might do. With my Pentax setup, I tried to keep the lens selection small: 50 1.8, 90macro, a wide zoom and the 60-250. And recently added a 35macro. In hindsight, something like the 28-105 could have been sufficient for all but macro.

If I may suggest, a great pair of hiking boots. They may seem expensive but the level of grip, support, comfort and security is well worth it.

Really good thread as I too have also contemplated taking the medium format plunge. Thank you for the perspectives.

While it’s not much help, I forget select dates. Similarly, it’s frustrating for other people.

End of the world... more like end of my positive account balance. (again)
Maybe I’ll just pick up a hobby like metal smithing. At then, the tools don’t get updated on a whim.lol

As much as I enjoy using/supporting Pentax and recognize it's strengths amongst my various other bodies/lenses, my ears cant help but cringe just a little with that video promo. I totally get the strategy of focusing on the emotional component in photography to draw in users but something is lost in the execution.

Welcome! That's awesome. I've played with only but a few M42 mounts on my digital body K5iis. Although I recently parted with a Super ME.

while I still own Nikon bodies and a collection of lenses along with my Pentax gear, the worst snobbery I encountered was towards my aged Nikon body from another Nikon owner.
Oddly enough, strictly based on the technical merits, Images from my old D50 held up better than images from the snobs D300s. They had no idea how to work their gear outside of P and scoffed at my gear.
Meh, at times I actually like having the underdog equipment.

Argh... So tempting but I REALLY don't need yet another lens.

I totally spaced the time I attended the Albuquerque International Balloon FIesta and met someone who had a pre-released 645D. I immediately took notice of the brand and asked him about it. He was soo surprised that I was familiar with Pentax he let me hold the 645D and encouraged me to make a few frames with a wait-listed camera. There is something to be said about people that are brand-enthusiastic enough to encourage a complete stranger to hold and walk around with their $12K+ body/lens combo.

Yeah, i thought about getting that adapter to address the sync/banding/jello issue. However, that adapter would only address it with my Pentax lenses and not my Nikon glass. Also I have a hard time justifying $200+ for that adapter when I have a couple of other options that allow me to sync that high (although not at comparable extreme focal lengths).
I guess I re-purchased the Q more for it's niche aesthetic, form factor and extreme crop abilities.
I appreciate the suggestion however, spending that money towards a native Q lens is more appealing to me.

Something I have considered- saving a few dollars on the getting the higher end body and using the $ towards a trip (even a road trip) to really use the equip.
Even with that said, if I had to choose between the two, ugh... I would have a hard time splitting the hairs between the two models.
