As already mentioned- Q is an older (long gone) Pentax system. (I own one, although it doesn’t get much action)
For portable, swappable, 4K- my go to is Panasonic/Lumix. Of the current models-G9, GX9 or 95 the 85… the list goes on.
If you find yourself primarily shooting in the 24-70mm range- LUMIX L100 variant.
If you are considering going to the big two “darkside” (based on price and portability) Z5 or z50.
I love Pentax ergonomics and ethos for stills, not for video.

It’s a small drawback of being soo customizable. I can’t recall the switch or combination off the top of my head. I will try to follow up.

If I may suggest, a great pair of hiking boots. They may seem expensive but the level of grip, support, comfort and security is well worth it.

Really good thread as I too have also contemplated taking the medium format plunge. Thank you for the perspectives.

While I don’t have the 28-105, I can see how that one lens could essentially be all that you need for a majority of the shooting you might do. With my Pentax setup, I tried to keep the lens selection small: 50 1.8, 90macro, a wide zoom and the 60-250. And recently added a 35macro. In hindsight, something like the 28-105 could have been sufficient for all but macro.

Some types of haze can be cleaned. Is it worth the cost of the lens and the the service is really the question.

I am all too familiar with sitting on a purchase fence. With older gear, it’s not just worrying if it gives out, but also knowing parts may no longer be available for a fix

Try tripping the shutter without a lens mounted. Pay close attention to see if the aperture lever is moving or not. Also, when your set the aperture on on any lens to its max, the aperture mechanism should not stop down (cause closure) if it is, then there is something way off.

While it’s not much help, I forget select dates. Similarly, it’s frustrating for other people.

End of the world... more like end of my positive account balance. (again)
Maybe I’ll just pick up a hobby like metal smithing. At then, the tools don’t get updated on a whim.lol

Good is typically not cheap. However, the right mentor isn’t always found in the usual places. I often find I need inspiration more than I need instruction.
