Maybe some settings in your graphics card or integrated. I know my Nvidia card has many settings and the one that has a real big impact is changing from RGB to ycbrb444 or 442 color space.
As far as DVI goes it is possible I seem to remember it is limited in a number of ways. I have not used that in quite awhile and my monitors don't even have the adapter connection so that's a good indicator it is history. I would use Display Port or HDMI for higher bandwidth and a purer signal

I use DisplayCal with a spyder5 on all my monitors and yes they all look a bit different between types. Do you put the monitors in custom mode when calibrating?
Initially when using displaycal I never noticed a temp adjust option just color and bright point, if I remember correctely it is part of the spyder software initiall setup.You could adjust temp since it is hardware based compared to the color profile

Sure but your just testing out the lens anyway. I have always considered post work in the likes of Photoshop just an extension of what you can do with the DSLR.
I don't have a Pentax DSLR (Canon 6D) I do have a new (almost as old as me) Pentax LX SLR that my girl thinks I may love more than her haha
Will post some shots at some point, kind of a tough crowd here though Lol

Another option would be focus stacking if that aperture works best for you. I see nothing wrong with that myself since you can get some great effects

The shell definitely has a lot of photographic potential. Where was your center point of focus? I usually use that my self. Just asking since the closest parts looks soft and mid upper protrusion looks the sharpest

Yes the "Winder LX" it uses 4 AA batteries, no external power pack

Neither motors work they are not frozen just not getting power by the looks of it. I was hoping it was common problem with the winder something like a bad contact or switch but it is starting to look much more serious.
I have heard once they go that's it. I don't know what the circuitry is or if there is a fuse etc. so I cannot confirm for myself.
Tearing it apart blind is not something I really want to do.

I have found the LX shutter speed is more than fast enough to freeze my subject especially in lowlight situations and is bright enough with fast glass attached.
I am relatively new to film photography and film developing and scanning so there are quite a few limitations compared to my Canon 6D and Canon flashes with fast sync but I have learned to adapt, it's a bit more work but I have captured some nice shots with both my LX and Super ME as they are.
It would be nice if they both had 1/250 sync for versatility sake but I can think of a couple other things that would make them better as well like exposure lock and different metering options.
At some point I will probably add to my collection a MX as well and a Super Program

I don't have any experience with the MX I have a Super ME and an LX but may well add an MX to my collection.
Curious though as to whether the MX focus Screens (grid) would be able to be used in the LX and vice-versa since from what I gather they have similarities.

Hello I am a new LX owner I did not really have the sticky bumper problem but heard about and researched it and tried one solution that was simple and relatively easy, I also had the materials necessary including lighted headset magnifier.
It involves dry lube which is graphite powder it will adhere to sticky parts of the rubber stops apply with sponge type swabs or regular cotton swabs a little at a time till it builds up. I also put some tape on the back part of bumper to catch any stray powder.
Thanks "Not a Number" for the Jon Goodman info. My LX had kind of hack job done on the upper mirror damper it was all one piece of open cell foam that was dissolving. The LX has interchangeable focus screen so the middle part cannot be obstructed.
Anyway I picked it all out with various tools and decided replaced it in two pieces on either side of the focus screen catch with sticky back 3mm thick felt I cut and freed of stray fibers with a blower. I then heated an x-acto knife to melt the fibers on the frayed edges then placed with precision tweezers without taking anything apart.
Jon has it right it is not for the faint of heart or of shaky hands.
The seals on the back cover are of a heavy think rubber foam I believe is supposed to be waterproof (water resistant more likely) so you really don't want to use regular open cell foam although you certainly could.
Edit: Eric at pentaxs com would probably have the info you need he specializes in Pentax SLR's You may want to consider emailing or sending it to him for an evaluation. If you do end up replacing them yourself and they are off a bit so will your focus. He can CLA it, doubt it is cheap for the LX

Thanks all for the welcome!
I ended up using 3mm thick felt strip trimmed to fit on both sides of focus screen latch. Before installing used soldering iron on low heat to melt the felt a bit so it would not produce fibers.
Mirror lockup and shutter work fine

Hi VILLANofOZ, You should have no problem finding a good LX on eBay the camera is so well made it is hard to find a completely bad one just being sold just for parts.
If you did find a fried one it would probably still go for a couple hundred, and the bumpers would probably still be gunk like they are on most old cameras. You could then collect all the accessories some of which are getting hard to come by.
Edit: I have also learned there are 9 variations of the LX over it's 21 year production run and certain internal parts are not interchangeable, yikes

Hello all glad to have found this site and to see Pentax has such a great following for the older cameras. I own a Canon 6D and a number of great lenses but having received a Pentax Super ME from my dad I have recently gotten into shooing film along with doing my own developing and scanning.
Unfortunately the Super ME needs work out of my scope so I am going to send it south to hopefully get it sorted out.
Needing another camera I am now the new owner of a late model Pentax LX that is in great condition, except for the mirror bumper(s) that is.
The bumper was replaced as one long piece of open cell foam that was completely deteriorated and also covering the focus screen latch, so I am guessing the bumper should be 2 pieces.
I have successfully removed the gooey mess and taken some nice shots without any bumper but I do want to fix it correctly using sticky back FELT pieces that should be more or less Permanent.
So my technical question is does anyone know of how thick the pieces should be so as to not interfere with the mirror lockup feature, my best guess is 2mm.
If anyone has done this job and could give some assistance it really would be great
