Landscape Kirkjufjara, Iceland, in black & white

Iceland's landscapes are very graphic & monochromatic in nature, with their black rocks & black sands covered by white snow & blue ice, and I love to portray them in B&W when the occasion arise. 51 seconds of exposure with my Hasselblad X1D II, Hasselblad XCD 45mm and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra filters.

Thank you for viewing, best regards

Vieri

A Mourning Dove. See the tear in the corner of its eye? The pigeon's cousin, I think.

Cityscape Australian bushfires (wildfires) smoke shrouds Melbourne

Sunset over Melbourne, choking in the smoke from the bushfires (wildfires) that have been burning in south east Australia over the past month. The fires in NSW and Victoria, which are still burning, have burnt over 6 mill ha (16 mill acres / 25,000 sq miles) about the area of Scotland or West Virginia. Taking 28 lives, 2000+ homes, over a billion animals. SE Australia is very fire prone and these unusually severe fires have been driven by some, or all, of: drought, record high temps, high fuel loads, reduced fire prevention maintenance, climate change, +ve Indian Ocean Dipole, ??. We need rain!

Around here, Autumn was very strange. On Halloween, for example, the day was cooler than it would turn out to be on our {brown} Christmas. Hearing that the temperature was going to drop 20 degrees F - in other words, down near normal - my wife and I went off on a drive. We came across the tiny town of "Tab" - population 50, with one employer .... this grain elevator.

Nature A Breaking Wave at Turtle Bay, Oahu

I spent quite a bit of time attempting to photograph waves while dodging rain squalls and wind. This was my best result and required a bit of PP. It might be too much for some, but my goal was to capture the drama of the Oahu North Coast in December. The really big waves at Sunset Beach, the Pipeline and Waimea Bay were too far out to capture with the gear I had with me. I am happy to report that my gear held up to the rain without any problems.
