Ah, thanks, yes, and there is a tiny red dot on the release button, which I did not see, at first!
Now, I know they are pretty simple, but are there any potential issues?
It looks to me like there are no film chamber foam seals, all metal channel construction.
I may use a 1.55v silver oxide 387S battery and see what I get with B&W wide latitude.
I forgot what my SP1000 takes (or tolerates) so I may do same on it.

No marking s on top plate, other than the serial number.
It is a Honewell, and only "Spotmatic" name appears on camera front
Yes 1600 ASA, I misread.
Curious. I did try to read on Spotmatics prior to posting, of course, but some segments of production get blurry.
has a self -timer

Silly me wanted another Spotmatic body, other than my SP1000.
I did not pay much attention (just got another dog, so, busy!) and got a "plain: Spotmatic:
- reads "Spotmatic", SN: 2570723
- max shutter is 1/1000
- max ASA is 1500
- cold shoe add-on over viewfinder
It came with a Super-Lentar 35mm 2.8, that is, good to have an extra M42 on hand.
Is this an original Spotmatic model, or some variant made before the SP line?

Glad to see you are safe, and up and running!
Thanks for providing details.
I will take another very close look at my camera, and go ahead with the pin manipulation.

Revisiting the subject, as I just got one with same problems as OP's (I was briefly in touch with him, busy with storm recovery in PR).
Yes, same problem with the standard base being off rails.
Looking around the web,I saw a few for sale postings, same issue!
The question is why did happen in the first place? Is some gap allowing the standard to be off a bit?
I want to know a bit more before resolving to remove the pin, separate the two sliding parts, and engage standard properly, hoping it will stay good.
Just a speculation: the bellows may not fold and collapse properly, bunching up. This could maybe force the standard upwards. My bellows have misfolds.

I am confused  as to which type of hearing aid batteries is needed or is compatible.
Could you clarify, please?

Welcome Steno.
Have a spritz at the Enoteca De Colonne in Cannaregio for me, if open.

Nice.
A few hours ago, I witnessed to most elaborate hummingbird courtship dance and diving by my feeder.
At first, I thought it was the usual feeder territorial rivalry, but it turned into a love fest!
Northeast U.S.
Just amazing.

It is not easy to go to specialty shops right now.
I may try a 357 with spacer, like some folks here have used on Spotmatics.
Or forgo aging on-board metering and use hand meter?

I am looking for the 380's or 390's series of batteries for the SP1000 that fell into my lap last year - time to get it rolling..!
I do not seem to find the battery for it, presumably the 387S, and not even its close cousin the 386 in stores near me (U.S.).
Where do you get yours?

New-to-me Pentax SP 1000 body has a the mirror stuck in the up position.
After doing some reading, I saw a method where the lock mechanism part located behind the camera baseplate can be cleaned and oiled.
Did anybody attempt that?
