This ebay seller really annoys me. Here's just one of his items: VINTAGE 1938 Rollei Rolleicord Drp Drgm TESSAR 7.5Cm/3.8 Twin Lens Camera.READ | eBay
For months he's been trying to sell what he claims was father's collection, and he wants to sell them for parts or not working, which I understand. But with every listing he posts an abusive rant including that "photography is dead." No way am I going to buy from this seller. And the prices are to high for parts and not working. Here's his rant:
VERY IMPORTANT !! FOR ME IF ANY FILM CAMERA WAS NOT TESTED WITH FILM IS AUTOMATICALLY ,,UNTESTED,, THAN THIS IS A REAL REASON FOR RETURN THE CAMERA TO SELLER!
ATT.:READ CAREFULLY THE DESCRIPTION! DO NOT WRITE AFTER PURCHASE THAT YOU EXPECTED NEW FUNCTIONING CAMERA. PLEASE BE RESPONSIBLE OF YOUR DECISION.
READ FEW TIMES TO UNDERSTAND!
This is for collector not a photographer. From collection of my father, exhibition camera. DRP/DEUTSCHE REICH PRODUKTION/ 985117 DRGM. With original leather case. I DO NOT GIVE ANY WARRANTY!! AS IS! UNTESTED, MAY OR MAY NOT WORK! CONDITION:AS IS! For parts or repair.Price calculated as parts value and eBay provision.I am not photographer,I do not know how to test the stuff properly. The independent technical expertise of equipment cost average $100.00 and does not give warranty that client will not complain it and eBay keeps clients right first!!In many cases expertise cost is greater as value of offered item!! SALE IS FINAL NO RETURNS.No front lens cap.Lens is old:The buyers can find dust, fungus and scratches even in new lens if they want it !! My info is honest and true,I do not try to hide anything. Product images are of the actual item up for sale.IF YOU WANT TO DO A PICTURES WITH THIS CAMERA /old fable/but,film photography is dead! DO NOT BUY IT.I WARNED YOU!! This is the main reason of all returns!!
Shipped with USPS Mail continental USA only.

Every untested camera I tried buying on ebay was untested because they couldn't test it -- it wouldn't wind and fire.

Looking at it, it doesn't look corroded. There's onn leakage, nothing to wipe off. It really doesn't look like it needs to be cleaned. It just looks slightly pitted compared to the one from the MX that works. I'm surprised the one from the KX doesn't work. It looks like it should.

I just got an "as is" K2 from KEH as filler to get up to free shipping on an order. The K2 is in amazingly good condition, except that the electronics didn't work.
In looking at the K2 battery lid/cover, there was very slight pitting in the contact surface. I tried cleaning it with a pencil eraser to no success. It looks clean enough to work, but still doesn't. I replaced it with the lid/cover from my MX and the K2 electronics work with the MX lid/cover.
Any suggestions how to clean it? I don't want to just buy a used one off ebay since they apparently must be perfect for the K2 to work.

Years ago when I had a couple British motorcycles (Norton and Triumph) with Lucas electrical systems, I had a t-shirt that said, "Lucas, prince of darkness."

I don't think he's going to get his starting bid. I wonder what happened to that poor camera. Pentax Anahi KX | eBay |

It didn't work on the KR-10. I also had a Spotmatic with a completely stuck mirror. I took the bottom off, sprayed it with electric contact cleaner, blew it out with air, then a little Tri-Flow. I know the directions said not to use any aerosol lube, but Tri-Flow has worked miracles for me with other things. The Spotmatic works great now. I will say, the mechanisms are very different; the Spotmatic looks much more rugged.

I bought as-is Ricoh KR-10 Super from KEH because it was cheap and because I like old manual cameras. What I got from KEH appears to be in astonishingly good shape. The electric stuff all works. The one problem is there is a lag after I push the shutter button. The lag grows shorter the more I fire the camera. My impression is that the problem is that the mirror is slow to rise. As I watch the mirror it seems to start out slow, but then gather speed.
I know this camera isn't worth anything. I don't want to pay multiples of what it's worth to have it cleaned. Is there anything productive I can try myself? I'm reasonably good working on machinery.

I'd say the buy it now prices are excessive, but I think almost all final sales prices on shopgoodwill are excessive for camera equipment. I've only recently started following camera equipment on shopgoodwill, and I'm baffled by the place. Usually untested with no guarantee, yet selling prices seem generally well above prices on ebay.
