Lens hood for 28mm f/3.5 (K version)

I recently purchased a cheap screw-on lens hood for my K 28mm f/3.5 (great lens) on my MX, and I noticed very heavy vignetting when I got my negatives back. After doing some research, I've found that the PH-S52 is the correct lens hood for this particular version of the 28mm. However, it seems to be on the rare side as far as finding them on eBay or anywhere else online for that matter.

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Haoge or something more generic. I'm not sure if this particular lens needs a clip-on because of how wide it is, or if a screw-in would work. I have a Haoge for my Olympes Pen FT, and it works really great with the 38mm with no vignetting.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks for the reply! Most of the recommendations and images I've seen are from this exact scanner. Quality seems very good from the examples I've seen. I've also heard it has its problematic with Macs in particular, so I'm going to opt for a different solution, unfortunately.

Beautiful looking scan there! Thank you for taking the time to demonstrate the capabilities of that scanner, and your own. I've owned a copy of Vuescan for some time as well, and find it to be very easy to use, and with frequent updates, it never seems to let me down. I use Negative Lab Pro which has its own built-in profiles, so that's not something I've had to really create myself. Do you see a big benefit from creating your own profiles?

At the moment I'm using an Epson V550 for 135 and 120. I know the 700 or 850 have wet mount adapters and slightly better resolving power, but for now, the 550 is the only flatbed I'm interested in investing in. I've been scanning using ANR glass, emulsion down, and have found that scanning about 1mm off of the glass to be the sweet spot for my particular model. I use Vuescan and scan everything into Lightroom as a .dng file. From there, I use NLP to do a mostly flat conversion and do all of the editing in Lightroom and Photoshop. I'm pretty pleased with that workflow for 120, but of course, my 35mm images do not come close to my 120 format scans.

I've been scouring eBay for a 35mm dedicated solution, and have been using ScanDig as a reference point for comparing different models in my price range (around $300). From what I have gathered, it seems most of the older Nikon and Minolta models blow most modern dedicated 35mm scanners out of the water. The problem I'm seeing is because of their age, there are software and compatibility issues with Mac's, as well as taking a risk on a 10-20 something-year-old piece of equipment that may or may not last another year.

Although lab scans are an option for me, I prefer to develop, scan, and print everything myself. I should also mention that although I'm not against DSLR scanning, I don't own a macro lens for my X-T20 or a proper stand or reversible tripod. I'd also prefer something more stationary like a desktop scanner.

My question is should I take a risk and get a good deal on an older dedicated scanner, like a Minolta Dimage Dual Scan (various models), or just settle for something with a bit less quality in the Plustek family that has a warranty, and is still serviceable?

Any shared thoughts, images, or experiences are much appreciated and thank you in advance.

Ended up with a Tiltall, and upgraded to one of their ballheads. Judging by the build quality, I don't think I'll be needing to look at another tripod for the next 30 years.

After much debate, I've settled on the K version. Average price on Ebay is about the same as the Takumars ($500 as of today). I've heard nothing but good things about each of these lenses, so I'll side step the M42 mount for now. Still would like to get my hands on a minty Spotmatic at some point. Hoping to mount this on an LX which I've had my eye on for some time, but may settle on an MX. I appreciate eveyone's comments. Great suggestions and insight!

Looking for a sturdy tripod/ball head combination that will hold a Pentax 6x7 or RB67, but won't break the bank. Currently looking at Manfrotto 3021 with 3047 head. Thought I'd see what sort of recommendations I can get here. Thanks for your help!

Having a hard time deciding between the Takumar M42 mount 85mm 1.8 and the K mount version. There seems to be many more Takumars available, but I don't have an M42 body, and I don't like the idea of fiddling with m42 -K mount adapters. Is it worth buying a "newer" Spotmatic F or the like, or should I just go with the more rare K mount 85mm f1.8?

Both lenses seem to have about the same ratings on the forums, but exhibit somewhat different color rendering. Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks for the help!

Hello, I’ve been reading a lot of reviews on this forum for a few months now, and they’ve been steering me in the right direction as far as lens choices for my k1000. Thought I’d go ahead and register.Looking to move into an MX or KX body (mostly for the DOF preview capabilities) if anyone is looking to sell. Thanks for all the knowledgeable advice I’ve been seeing on here!
