When it was running, it was fine, but it seemed to eat fan belts I only had it for about a year, then they gave me a volvo 245 wagon. It was not quite as powerful but was very reliable as well as more roomy.

when I first went to Nigeria in 1977, I inherited a 1975 Mercedes 230.6 as a company vehicle. When I picked it up, it was almost empty. I drove to the nearest gas station, got out and could not find the filler cap. After scratching my head for a few minutes a beggar stepped forward and pulled down the hinged license plate to reveal the cap. I felt like an idiot but it meant a couple of Naira in his bowl

In the seventies, I lived in Nigeria and made friends with a Dutch couple. The husband was born in Surinam and worked for a US company. He spoke English with a American accent. The wife, born in Holland spoke only a few words of English. We found that if we spoke in our native broad Yorkshire dialect, we would communicate quite well.

Same people make Tetley tea bags. I lost interest when they moved the headlights off the grill and put plastic on the dashboard.

My wife and I are both from Yorkshire where Yorkshire pudding is served as a separate dish, before the meat & Veg. However the quality of the beef improved greatly when we moved to this side of the pond

Another point is that presently, 95 % of the worlds hydrogen supply is made from natural gas or coal. I realize it can be made by electrolysis of water but that is not efficient and is only used when ultrapure hydrogen is required. ---------- Post added 01-21-21 at 08:16 PM ----------
Is the $10 to send the batteries to Mexico? That's where most of them go to from USA. Environmentalists have shut down almost all the battery recycling plants here. ---------- Post added 01-21-21 at 08:31 PM ----------
Did you see many birds around the wind farms? Maybe the birds in the area were already dead when you got there. In the sixties I hiked a lot on the North Yorkshire moors. I noticed that I never saw birds near the Fylingdales BMEWS radar. I later heard that microwave radiation fried then if they got too near. I also read that not painting windmills white reduces bird kill by 70%

Our first car was a 1939 Vauxhall 10-4. like this one It was in storage soon after it was made until the end of WW2. We got it around 1953, so although it was 14 years old, it was only on the road for 7 of those. It was the first British car to have monocoque (chassisless) construction. Also one of the first with "double dip" headlights and two tail lights.. Earlier ones had only one headlamp lit on low beam and often only one tail light. As a kid it seemed quite large!
