How did you become a Pentaxian ?

Needed an SLR for a college class in 1987 and got a Pentax K-1000. Two years about I got back into photography, purchased a used Pentax K-3 with 1,500 clicks on the shutter, a great camera, and love it. About 1 year ago around Christmas, I purchased a Pentax K-1000 on ebay, almost used, and a manual Pentax-M 40mm pancake lens. I found that I really like a 40mm lens focal length. On my K-3, the Cosmicar-A 28mm lens my K-3 is a go-to lens.

ricoh gr ii vs pentax q7

I want a pocketable camera, I love my K3 but some places I don't take it, on the boat fishing, going to the groceries, on the way to appointments, quick walks, etc.
for a backup camera. I am looking at Ricoh gr ii vs Pentax q7. I would be adding a 01 prime 8.5mm lens (39.5mm crop factor) on Q7.
On the Ricoh, I like 28mm (42mm crop factor) because I am used to shooting street photography on my K3 28mm (42mm crop factor) vintage lens.

Any users have used both and liked one vs the other?

thanks, advance.

When I purchased the pinhole the seller had an extension ring set for tele/macro tube... so I thought to give it a shot. Also, the tube fits better than the pinhole body for some reason. More experiments to come...

thanks!

I have a pinhole "lens" (Pinhole diameter: 0.28mm (This diameter calculated exactly to fit Pentax K PK cameras) f/stop 157
with a Macro Extension Tube using the #1 tube ring. I don't have a tripod yet so I had to go to a handhold shutter speed, which set to ISO 51200. The ISO is high but I like the "Grain".

Thoughts?

Thanks

Streets Sunday morning getting sun

Finally got a sunny day with no rain with my new k-3!

No photoshop right out of the camera. I do use a Red filter.

There no people anywhere at 9 am!

I did notice the battery is an almost low life, does the K-3 eat batteries? I have a back-up but I might have to get a third or fourth!!!!

So today I was trying to learn digital photography and I am starting with B&W... lots to learn! But fun! 18-55mm lens is cool and the prime 50mm lens is a bokeh background monster, I love it!!

Yeah, money is tight, but I think I would be happier with the K-3. It will take another month, but I have nothing but time!
thanks

Hello everyone... I am closer to finding my camera. I am down to the K-5 IIs w/ "E- condition" ($319 + ship+ tax) or a K-3 w/ "very good condition" ($379 + ship + tax) on adorama.com. Is the price K-3 worth it the price and the less condition on Adorama? Any thoughts on adorama.com? Is it true that the K-3 has a better shutter with over 200,000 clicks-life vs 100,000 clicks-life on the k-5 IIs? thanks!

Thanks, everyone! I am getting closer to deciding on a Pentax body (K-5, K50, K30, K-S2, or the dream K-3). The K-S2 is probably out of the running as the prices I found are close to the K-3.

Now, lenses... the Pentax SMC DA 50mm F 1.8 Lens for DSLR Camera is a no brainer, correct?

What about older film camera lenses, such as a used Vivitar Auto Telephoto 135mm f2.5 lens? Does this lens work well on modern cameras? How does it work (SLR to DSLR camera lenses)

How about a 1970's Soviet Helios-40 M42 mount 85mm f/1.5 lens? It looks interesting, will it work or will it have problems working with these modern cameras? Why are 85mm lenses are so expensive in general? any cheap/used 85mm lenses?

That is all for now, lots of information on the internet, some goes over my head. thanks again

wow! Good looking flower for an ugly root, it looks similar to an orchid. Is it in the same type of plant? That lens looks great and wow for that price!

I had a Pentax k1000 years ago (loved that camera), and I'd like to get back into photography.

Here are some things that I am looking for in a camera:
1) I have a low budget as I had a stroke 3 years ago and I am on disability.
2) I am a painter so I will need to shoot my paintings for sale.
3) I am a landscape painter and would like to get into street photography
4) I would like the camera to have around 12-16mp's
5) I would prefer a micro 4/3rds camera/lens
6) I would like the lens to be a "prime" or short zoom

I have looked online at Panasonic (G series), Pentax (Q series), Canon (rebel), Sony (alpha), and Olympus (Pen series).

What are your thoughts on the Pentax Q10? & Does the price warrant spending more money for the Q-S1?

I will be looking to starting to use my new-to-me camera in spring/summer and saving up now.
I found a lot of info but as a noob a lot of this over my head. Thanks in advance!
