Hi. Latest Lightroom CC.
I don't know how to extract lens serial number from exif. I don't know how to use exiftool :/
I tried other online exif data viewers and it only shows camera's serial number.

Hi All.
1. I have the latest firmware 2.30.
2. Lens was bought new, it has right serial number for this lens, rounded blades and red ring.
3. On both KP and K1, after Lightroom import, it is descibed as smc...
4. I have all HD DA limiteds and all of them have unique special custom profiles, apart from this one HD DA 21. All other limiteds are shown as HD`s in exifs and LR.

Hi Folks!
I bet noone faced similar problem EVER.
I have or used to have dozens of lenses but this case makes me wonder "HOOOOW?".
I have HD DA 21/3.2. I checked unedited jpegs straigh from both my cameras (K1 and KP) and exif sees HD 21/3.2 as a green smc version and this drives me mad. How did this happen?
Furthermore, this prevents me to use special Kyushu custom image setting reserved for this lens with my K1 and maybe K3iii in the future.
I tried to restore default settings in K1 having the lens attached but it didnt work.
Any help how to tell my cameras, that my lens is red ringed HD and not the old green smc?

Go away!
This bad boy sits just above my head - you can see the blue sky between tree branches.
I had my DIY home made pop-up flash extender-dyfuzor tube (made from kitchen foil, baking paper and some cardboard).

This lens comes with PK mount. link to shop (in Polish)
I tried it yesterday. Conclusions?
- Very sharp at 3.1. Impressive.
- Edge to edge sharpness. I am stunned. In corners it is soft, but at T8.0 it is ultra sharp everywhere.
- Quite big distortion. You have to use lightroom's correction for Samyang 10 mm f/2.8
- pain-in-the-ass handling 1) - focusing is veeery precise, so it is for ultra still manual focus photograph. Let me put it this way: XX century sport photographers with manual focus SLR's will not have enought patience. Thread pitch is very long.
- pain-in-the-ass handling 2) - no conectivity, no f-stop numeration in body, t-stop wheal has spikes and it hurts when you press it hard as I used to.
- pain-in-the-ass handling 3) - M mode mettering thru the green button didnt work well - higher the t-stop, more overexposed image is. For example f/4 is 1/500s. I put f/5.6 and instead of 1/350s it gave me 1/250. So for f/8 inteade of 1/250s camera counted 1/125 or something like that. OMG.

Hi All,
I'm very happy that you are very active:)
I kindly asked you not to make a huge discussion here. There was plenty of time and there is a place for that in separate threads.
As I mentioned, tread is about conclusions from our long running discussions on FB Group "Pentax KP" and evelved into conclutions from Pentaxforums as well. We don't want to be selfish and collect this information just for us, so I decided to start this thread so the rest of the community could find out about it and express their opinion and add their insights. Enjoy folks!
PS. I attach photos of K50 with SMC DA 70/2.4 limited shot at f/2.8. As you can see, this photos were taken in the raw. In one photo magenta flare is present, in the second one it is not.

Hello dear colleagues.
On the Facebook group "Pentax KP", to which I cordially invite you all HERE, we touched upon a few topics related to the purple / magenta flares that appear when photographing towards the bright sun.
I would not like to provoke a strong discussion, but only focus on the observations and conclusions collected so far, which YOU dear users can supplement below, with explaining what is their cause. The reason in a technical sense, not the obvious one like "don't take pictures of you poor boy against the sun :)"
It also doesn't mean, that Pentax KP has fatal flaw or it is something we should point out to Ricoh.
Hope this thread is helpful to other users
Conclusions collected so far:
- The camera affected is a KP. Problem was also spotted with K50, K70, KS-2, and K3 (HD-20-40 Pentax Forums In Depth review)
- 16MPix (K5 range) cameras are less prone to those magenta flares, than 20-more (KS-2, KP, K3).
- no saw so far on K20d or K7
- AA filter has nothing to do with that - regular K5 and K5iis gives similar results,
- This phenomenon is present regard the lens - lenses prone to flare will show it. For example it is imposible to catch it with HD15 limited.
- Aiming camera towards the sun and focusing on closer distance, not on infinity. Sun near the edge of the frame.
- Dark objects in the frame like trees in bright sun, with the rays passing through trees, the trees are very far.
- the flares and rays must be visible in the viewfinder. It is bright ray that accompanying flares and ghosts. It is similar to the rays that amorphic lenses make in movies during night scenes. I didnt catch it once when the flares and ghost were not in viewfinder.
- it is not easy to catch it :). I was struggling long to master the art of catching them.
- lens hood or hand covering obviously helps :)
- several lenses were tested - stars, limiteds and DA-zooms - simple conclusion from the test in the same conditions is slower the lens, the more harder to catch it,
- stopping down the lesn doesnt make a difference really,
KP combined with particular lenses:
- zoom lenses especialy prone to cause purple flares with KP are DA16-45, HD20-40 limited, FA20-35,
- like above, but primes: SMC 35 limited, SMC 40 limited, SMC 40 limited, SMC 70 limited
- purple flares are no visible with DA18-135 at 18mm, but significant at 24 mm
- this phenomenon is visible, but not dramatic with Tamron 17-50 at 17 mm
- no flares with HD15 limited and DA10-17 fisheye on any focal lengh
Julia H. (regards!) contributed the explanation :
"I had this problem once with my K70 when shooting into the sun (...) On Pentax Forums it was suggested that the sensor temporarily maxed out from the over exposure. One expiation was "The purple is from the brilliant light of the sun (which is typically 100,000 times brighter than the scene) reflecting off the floor of the mirror box. There's no "black" coating known to man that is perfect. A lens with a good lens hood designed for APS-C can help. The blue lines are sensor artifacts caused by the design of the sensor. Unfortunately, Pentax has followed other camera makers down to road of using image sensors with built-in PDAF and that creates these artifacts."
Julias post that she mentioned HERE
I attach the worst (best for the thread) photo that I was able to use with the HD20-40

Last week, I visited my 83-year-old grandmother after more than a year off due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Grandma is in the process of overcoming her 4 cancer (1990, 2005, 2020, 2021). She overcame the first cancer when she looked after me when my parents were graduating and I couldn't live with them in the dormitory. The things that keep her from her worst thoughts are family, love, well-being, and optimism. And chemotherapy.
Grandma does not like being photographed very much, as shown in the first photo. In the second photo, I said something to her. Let that be our secret. In the third photo, she probably still doesn't like being photographed, but the camera and I liked to photograph her.
Words heal even the most serious disease.

Locust on the Georgioupolis Beach, Crete. Took it this year's September during holiday. I was preparing for sunset and noticed this locust resting. I quickly changed lens from Sigma to this incredible HD15/4 limited and using its close-up properties I took two shots. After that locust has gone. I love wide-angle close-ups. Cheeers.
