On Ebay l was looking for a vintage radio station decal to stick up in the man cave room. Got this for 3usd. Cool Domino's pizza coupons good in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area. That's where Domino's started in the early 60s. And l'm a driver for them now.

My B&H order arrived yesterday. 2 Vello wireless remotes for the k-5 and a Sandisk 32mb SD card. Good thing l got 2 remotes because one doesn't work. Checked the battery and battery is good. At $10 l'm not going to bother with sending it back. l'll just take the battery out of it and save it for when the good remote needs a battery replacement.

You can get an adapter with bayonet mount on one end and male filter threads on the other and securely mount the lens reversed.

l met up with friends at the only Russian restaurant in the Houston metro area. lt's in downtown Tomball about 30 miles northwest of downtown Houston. The main subject of interest was the Blues Brothers on top of the building. The last image is the restaurant. This outing with my k-5 was a good one.

1. How did they screw their user base a couple of years before going to the EF mount?
2. Nikon introduced a new mount too-Z.
3. Even if Canon does not make any new EF/EF-S bodies and lenses, there are enough of them to keep me happy for at least the next decade.

DA 18-135 WR, Show us what it can do

l did some testing to see what reproduction ratios l could get with the lens and the Nikon 6T 2.9 diopter close up lens. According to specs, the lens can reach .24x on it's own. At 135mm, l'm getting about .4x. Focus breathing at 135mm is pretty bad. ln fact, i'm getting about the same magnification regardless where the focus is set. The 3 pics show min focus, midway, and infinity focus with the 6T mounted. The only thing that changes is the working distance-the closer the focus, the less working distance there is. lf there was no focus breathing, the reproduction ratio would get larger as the focus got closer.

Sometimes l think about selling my Nikon D7100 and Nikon mount lenses and getting a Canon 70D with the articulating screen, smaller RAW file option, and EF lens mount. Nikon has had the same mount for over 60 years which is a good thing. But....every few years they change something within the mount, reducing backward compatibility)Pentax is going thru the same thing with SDM and PLM). Canon changed their mount in 1987, but from '87 on backward compatibility is very good. And Canon seems to have more affordable lens options, especially for the APS-C shooter. l already have a collection of EF and EF-S lenses thst l use with my Canon M50 and EF-M to EF adapter. The D7100 is such an awesome performer, l'll ride it out with that body. But when it dies, my 20+ year run with Nikon is probably over. lt will be "Canon, here l come." When the D7100 dies, l'll be looking for maybe an 80d or 90d, whatever l can get for under $500 used. About Pentax...l got a k-5 and 18-135 recently for a low cost WR "beater" setup. l plan on keeping it, but have no plans to have Pentax as my main system.

Forgive me if someone else already suggested this, but l didn't read through all the posts. Maybe you could get a 10 stop ND filter and play around with long exposures. l don't do it much, but it's fun when l do this.

I raced a Harley today and after some really hard riding I managed
to PASS the guy. I was riding on one of those really, really
twisting sections of mountain road with no straight sections to
speak of and where most of the bends have warning signs that
say "MAX SPEED 50 KPH".

I knew if I was going to pass one of those monsters with those
big-cubic-inch motors, it would have to be a place like this where
handling and rider skill are more important than horsepower alone.

I saw the guy up ahead as I exited one of the turns and knew I could
catch him, but it wouldn't be easy. I concentrated on my braking and
cornering. Three corners later, I was on his mudguard. Catching him
was one thing; passing him would prove to be another.

Two corners later, I pulled up next to him as we sailed down the
mountain. I think he was shocked to see me next to him, as I nearly
got by him before he could recover. Next corner, same thing. I'd
manage to pull up next to him as we started to enter the corners but
when we came out he'd get on the throttle and out-power me. His
horsepower was almost too much to overcome, but this only made me
more determined than ever.

My only hope was to out-brake him. I held off squeezing the lever
until the last instant. I kept my nerve while he lost his. In an
instant I was by him. Corner after corner, I could hear the roar of
his engine as he struggled to keep up. Three more miles to go before
the road straightens out and he would pass me for good.

But now I was in the lead and he would no longer hold me back. I
stretched out my lead and by the time we reached the bottom of the
canyon, he was more than a full corner behind. I could no longer see
him in my rear-view mirror.

Once the road did straighten out, it seemed like it took miles
before he passed me, but it was probably just a few hundred yards. I
was no match for that kind of horsepower, but it was done. In the
tightest section of road, where bravery and skill count for more
than horsepower and deep pockets, I had passed him. Though it was
not easy, I had won the race to the bottom of the mountain and I had
preserved the proud tradition of one of the best bits of Britiron.

I will always remember that moment. I don't think I've ever pedaled
so hard in my life. And, some of the credit must go toRaleigh
cycles, as well. They really make a great bicycle...

Been wanting a 67mm 10 stop ND for awhile. l have a 77mm Formatt Hi Tech Firecrest 10 stop, but don't like using it with a step up adapter for smaller lenses. The ICE 10 stop has been in my Ebay watchlist for a few months.

There's only one camera shop in Houston that l've tried for sensor cleaning. They do good work, but they're 20 miles from me and you have to leave the camera for 4 days. And it costs $80. l cleaned the k-5 today.

After running errands, l had time to try out my newly acquired gear and stopped at the park. l can't judge the 18-135's performance on this outing because the lighting was very poor. l started shooting about 15 minutes before sunset and the overcast was very thick. So far i'm impressed considering the light l had to work with. On the last image, it was getting dark so l popped up the flash.

l noticed there are a few spots on the sensor. l blew the sensor with a rocket blower and it did nothing. l want to wet clean it with the Visible Dust green swabs and Sensor Clean liquid. Since it has SR and the sensor moves, do l need to be more careful how much pressure l apply with the swabs?

Accessories needed for WR shooting?

Now that l have a WR body and lens, just need to know what else l'm going to need for bad weather shooting. My k-5 didn't come with a hot shoe cover. l have one for other brands of cameras that should work. And l assume the lens hood should be used to help keep rain droplets off the front element? Should l mount a UV/clear filter to the lens also? And a towel to wipe the camera down when l'm finished shooting? ls there anything else l need to know?
