I recently bought a Pentax K5 with some lenses, including tha famous 31mm ltd. I bought this lens for its wide-open capablities to go withe the smooth bokeh. I understand that it cant be as sharp at 1.8 as on 2.8. But, to me it looks like something is wrong with my copy of this lens. Look at the transition from white to darker areas, it is kind of leaking white into the darker areas. And the sharpness is not great either. The picture is taken on 15-20 meter distance. If taking pictures at a closer range, the result is the same, ie, the number "3d" engraved in my Pentax 15mm leaks onto the black lensbarrel in the same way.Can someone who knows this lens help me with this? Hi, I am back again, bought some useless Sony fullframe camera and lenses. To heavy, then I bought Sony Nex, useless, you need glases for every shot you make.
Bought Pentax K5 31mm and 18-135.
But there is one thing I dont understand, Flashsynch is stuck at 1/60 in A-mode with 31mm ltd. Why is it not 1/180? It is with the 18-135 zoom.
Sugestions?

Hi Ben and others,
This was bad news, it proves that Pentax from no on always will be political correct. Very boring. And no full frame either! The future is dull for Pentax. I have attached a picture from this months Pentax fashion shootout.

I think Pentax should add a second shutter realease in front one inch below the IR sensor on the K1D. (do you think it will be nick-named "the kid"?)Would be perfect for vertical pictures. Batterylife dos not seem to be a problem anymore. Why lug a round with a huge canikon like camera. A small pro-specced camera will set Pentax appart from all other highend cameras.

I look foreward to the 35mm macro. Hope it has a focus limiter. Earlier i used the 60mm Nikkor. Then the new 50mm Pentax Macro (the best), and now hoping for the 35mm Macro to be evne better. Seems inpossible though. I need extra DOF.
But will the best lens out -resolve an 14mp sensor at 100 ISO. DRvise also?
Or what?
Or is the reason for 645D high 40MP actually due to lenses. Or glass?

Hi folks,
Will there be a better result with a 14mp sensor with the limited lenses over an 10mp sensor if the result is printed out in 70 cm x100cm?
Or how will a 14 mp sensor compare to a 21mp sensor with a canon prime at 100 ISO (in the 35/50mm area), same print?
Where is the sweet spot regarding top quality lenses versus mp?
(any differenses FF vs 1x5 sensor-size)
This is what I care about. A niche or what?
fps is not relevant to me, I am not a hired in a newspaper as a photographer, I need something else: Colour and resolution and so on..
Anyone?

Hi folks,
I am trying to post some pictures. When using the attachment manager I am told the pictures I am trying to post is there somwhere. But they dont show up connected to my member-name (chals). Why?
I also have a 5MB picture that I am trying to reduce in size. The file itself is 487kB, but ends up as 64kB in the preview. I would like it to be close to 500kB
Any solution for this?

Hi folks,
I am struggeling realhard on deciding to buy the 40 or 43.
I like the size of the 40mm and the F/1.9 on the other. But either is of major importance. Probably the IQ is. What do you say in this matter?

Got a new 21mm today. Focus seems to be spot on. Manual focus is smoother than the first one. No play either. I hope it stays with this degree of friction.

I bought a 21mm at friday, today, between two shots, the friction in the focusring increased so much that the autofucus-motor couldnt dial in correct focus anymore. There seems to be focusproblems too. Sharpness seems to be a little ahead of focuspoint.
Any of you experienced this before?

I am probably one of the few here having no experience with photoshop. Also, I migrated from Nikon. After having been using Nikon 35mm up to 2005, I bought a D200. The infamous striping were present, and then the rubber started peeling of. Got a D2x, too huge for my taste, noise too, and a shutter release that I did not like. (much better in K10d) But I liked capture NX.
Today I figured out how to use NX with PEF-files.:
Do the WB- changes in Photolaboratory.
Save as TIFF
Open TIFF in NX
Save as NEF (and do anything)
All the changes made to the file (NEF) can be changed after saving.
Save as TIFF of JPG when finished.

Hi folks,
I got tired of waiting for the huge 16-50 zoom. I bought a 21mm today. Easy to carry around. I was told (Pentax Norway) that the 16-50 will be aviable in september. When it arrives, I buy one of the cheao 16-45 thet will pop up at that time.

I am a step closer to the 21mm now, because I dont beleave the 16-50 will be all that much better. Just think of all the pieces of glass an image has to go trough before it hits the sensor. More pieces of glass has to be bad?
And, how do you compare the 21mm against the 31mm?

Hi folks,
I still dont know wich lens to bye. I have ordered the 16-50. but I might change my mind.
This is what I am wondering about today: I have a 50mm f2.8 macro and a 16-45 and a 50-200. Many of my pictures are in the 50mm focal length.
When viewing pictures on my PC, I can always spot wich picture is taken with the 50mm macro. They are just better, more 3-D, contrast and sharpness. color too.
So, what can I expect in IQ if I compare the 16-45 at about 21mm setting to the 21mm prime?
Will it be like the 16-45 vs the 50mm macro?
If the IQ is close, I guess the 16-50 will be close to the 21mm.
Please compare and talk about it.

I have ordered a 16-50, when I get it I dont know. In the mean time I have been using my 50mm 2.8 macro. The lens is fantastic for general photography.
So I wonder how much better is a good prime contrast, resolution and colorwise compared to a good zoom (from any company) at the same focallength. And what about the 3D-effect? I remember a picture of my dog taken with a 35mm Summi-something on a Leica M4. Blowed up on a screen, it was like the dog was freezed in its movement, and the screen or the projector was not there. Only the dog.
Maybe I should bye the 31mm ltd rather than the 16-50 ? What will be the differences if I frame in something worthwile and take the picture at 31mm/5,6 with both lenses, and put the result on the wall as a 70x100cm print.
I am starting to think that 10mb sensors can take advantage of the best primes, leaving even the best zooms behind.
I would really appriciate if someone of you who have used the 31mm ltd and the 16-45mm (wich I also have) on K10d can comment on this.
Or may be the best would be to stick to my old Rollei 35s?
