Thanks for doing that. And that is unfortunate that you have to do it manually. Any way I can help?

I think there Needs to be better organization of the third part lens database. Just looking at Tokina primes in the screen grab below for example. The order of focal lengths is messing up. It jumps from 105 to 17 to 200 and then 24 and 28 when it should just be in numeric order. I believe its doing this because the focal lengths are being sorted in a "lexicographic" method. For example in a list containing 133 and 4 the 133 will come first dues to it starting with the number 1. I saw a similar thread but it was very old, so I thought id share my thoughts. |

Thanks for the info! I checked that database and was also left without much. I just picked up the 55mm 1.4 attached to a 420/sl for a steal at $30. Will add it to the database here once I get it. My 55mm macro just arrived yesterday, heres a shot I got with my NEX-7.

Thanks for the reply! It's funny I have both the Revuenon and the Chinon in my collection right now. Once I fix the apertures I'm going to sell them. Thanks for your insight, also your photo of the padlock is really nice.

I replied this on the vivitar lens club but I thought I'd give it it's own post. I was wondering if anyone has owned and compared these two normal 1.4 Vivitars. The 55mm has a 55mm filter thread and is only found in M42. The 50mm has a 49mm filter thread and is only found in Pentax K. I'm building a set of Vivitar lenses and need a ~50mm. The 55mm is a rumoured Tomioka design but researching that leaves a dead end. Overall I just want to know if there is a significant optical difference between the two. Thanks for any help!

Yeah I agree on the menu situation, I just got a NEX-7 for $200 today which has a similar cumbersome menu layout . I also plan to use it for video. I'm switching from my Canon t3i because I realised how much I love old lenses and needed a mirrorless so I could use a speed booster to capture all of that 35mm/FF FOV on the APS-C sensor.

Hi everyone! I recently acquired an Auto Vivitar 28mm 2.8 lens and I can find any info on it. The serial is 67215. In this blog it lists numerous Vivitar distributed 28mm lenses, except this one. There is a Preset lens in the list that uses a similar serial code format. I've included 2 pics of the lens which is all I have right now. If anyone can help me investigate that'd be amazing. Lets figure this out together!

Thank yall for the replies. This might be that 1/10th time. Controlling the aperture with a linkage further inside lens results in zero 'sluggishness' (red circle and arrow in pic). Also shown in the picture, It seems the lenses default state is F22, so what would not allow it to shut when completely assembled? Again thank you for any help. |

No, but I bought it from an individual along with a bundle of other stuff (maybe selling off family estate) at a steal of a price. I suspected some underlying issues, so I don't want to nickel and dime them.

I recently acquired a K Mount Sigma 90mm Macro lens. The aperture won't stop down past about 5.6 if turning the ring at a normal speed. I can get it to close a stop or two extra if I turn it a bit more rapidly. Could this be an issue with spring tension? There isn't any oil on the blades but might be further inside where I have not investigated. I've taken the mount off and it seems the aperture control arm isnt receiving enough pressure.

Yeah 'stricken off' was an incorrect description on my part. Very weird I can't find anything on why this would be.

While it physically looks like the FX-3, I think that camera only ever came in black. Which makes me think it's an FX-7

Thanks for the tip. I'll look into that. After looking at different Yashica models it looks like an F-7, but with the model name stricken off.

Yes its CY mount. There aren't any designations on the top plate either. I neglected to take a pic of that.

Hi everyone, I need help identifying this Yashica SLR. There's only a serial number on the bottom. I thought it was weird that there isn't a model name anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
