They are fantastic camera for everyday shooting and travel, but I think longer focal length is needed these days.
They aren't exactly cheap as well.

I have looked at Sony APSC system a while ago for different reason.
I realize that Sony (and other manufacturers) reserve their better lenses for full frame.
You can only get Samyang (only a 12mm), Sigma (many which have been discontinued) and the more expensive Zeiss for prime.
Most people did not move beyond kit lenses on Sony APSC, but it is a different issue as to the topic.

Fuji's lenses are quite expensive, but Canon seemed to be a good idea.

Yeah, maybe MFT, I think a GH4 can be have for not much money as well and the lenses are cheaper.

Medium format is more popular in this part of the world in the 50-60's.
Seen many of the Mamiya Press, but their lenses are no good, the anlargement/prints are actually worse than a 35mm with say a better Tessar or above lens.

Toyed with one of those but never actually use it to take pictures, I don't know how people focus with them back then.
I would pick something like Rolleiflex if I am shooting at that era.
Are lenses for Graflex specialized or I can use something like Fujinon on them?

A younger relative who is going to study journalism is asking me opinions about cameras.
I have thought of suggesting him to have a bridge camera with zoom lens instead of investing in expensive interchangeable lens system since quality is a secondary issue to portability and ease of use at this point.

My thoughts:
+ Cheaper
+ Portability and ease of use for an all in one system

+ No need for multiple lenses
+ Macro mode for document taking (not sure how well it works in reality)
+ Long focal length for sports and outdoor

- Many of the bridge camera doesn't shoot in RAW

Is shooting in RAW important in terms of Photojournalism these days?
What are your thoughts?

Not anything like that release officially yet.
It might take a while for custom fitters to make something like that for the ZFC.

I think a camera should be fun and enjoyable to use, especially for us hobbyist.

I was loaned a Olympus Pen F not too long ago, and despite it's multiple drawbacks, it is certainly enjoyable camera for me.
The film simulation is superb, and the only thing I miss is if it would have an optical viewfinder, which is the same drawback of the ZFC that I don't like; if only they have have a real rangerfinder with optical viewfinder like the Fuji X100 series or in real DSLR format like Nikon DF.

I'm not too sure about Canon aside from my interest in their recent line of professional video camera.
But the Olympus EPL series is fun to use, and it is easy to take good picture with it; it have a system that let amateurs focus on the essential and fundamentals and make the whole picture taking experience enjoyable.

They've just start shipping in Japan, and some people already got theirs.
Side by side comparison with J5 and DF.
Looks like the finishing is nice.

Anyway, Z FC stands for Z series Fusion Casual.
This camera is aimed at the amateur/beginners consumer market.

Around $1182 USD.
Dimension comparison with FM2.

I think when you starting to invest more into a system, the benefit of APSC starting to diminish.
I am thinking it is worthwhile to have APSC as a secondary system and FF as primary if you have the means.
I starting to notice the limitation of APSC once I do prints.
APSC system already reached their bottleneck and I don't think their sensor can develop much further but there is more for FF to grow.

How much film do you shoot?

I didn't shoot that much with film as a child, was getting back to it these 2 years with medium format in B&W.

I originally looking to shoot like a roll per month, very realistic since 6x6 only 12 shots per row, but I could never go out to shoot much due to corona.
I probably shoot a roll per 2-3 months, I can easily run into a few rolls per month if I have more engagement to shoot in it.

I agree for Pentax yes better specialize and stay in the DSLR business, but leaving the mirrorless to other players

---------- Post added 03-07-21 at 10:19 AM ----------

I think for something marketed for the retro market, ie using older lenses like Nikon DF.

There is benefit going straight to FF.
Maybe create another additional product line for that along with APSC system.

How about magazines with good photography instead of photography magazine?
Is there anything like "LIfe" magazine of today?

Yeah, I was thinking if they made it a step further with a DF2, then a lot of people will buy it to use it with their older lenses.

---------- Post added 29-06-21 at 11:02 PM ----------

I would wonder why Pentax didn't release something similar in retro styling say looking like a ME or MX but in FF digital.
There would be a market for that.

Nikon Zfc release date, price, specs and features | TechRadar
Is this a good compromise instead of reviving the DF, to me people are buying it for looks only according to the specs.
I wish there would be a SLR model with full frame, much like the old DF but updated.

PTTL or manual ?

The topic I've started is about outdoor and location situation, so I imagine it was dealing with 1 or two flash only.
And I think along with wireless system, TTL is useful for the kind of setup and situation I am using and shooting in.

In a studio, manual is more controlled of course.

I see, I'll keep that in mind with the problems of mirrorless with TTL flash.

---------- Post added 17-06-21 at 03:26 AM ----------

Of those, Phottix is the only one available around me, and asking for cheap as well.
Probably a good way to start dabble and change system along the way.

The last one is very nice, contrast stood out and well balanced with the background.

Yeah, it's a shame that there isn't much remote flash controller unit support Pentax TTL.
Now the only choice is Flashpoint R2 Pro and Godox X2T (have to tape off contact for single pin).
I'll get the Flashpoint controller anyway, and look at other options later (I am thinking of buying a Sony A7C)

Thanks, I'll look at Flashpro R2 Pro Mk II and I see there is a version available for Pentax as well as AD200.
I understand why so many photographers moving to Sony FF now since there's so much support available.

Hello, I have look in Godox remote trigger and lights with more detail, it seemed that I have to use XPro-P for me to able to use TTL on Pentax, the problem is I learn that XPro doesn't work with single pin mode and I couldn't use it with other cameras on manual mode
The Godox X1 does not seemed to have a version for Pentax, although it support manual mode, so if I pick X2T Pentax, would I be able to do manual remote on other cameras?
Also as long as I use Godox trigger, I can trigger any version of V860?

I wondered if other system like Yongnuo's can work for different cameras other than Nikon/Canon/Sony only.
