Hi,
Yep. When I saw this thread, I had the exact same thought: The 645 is already half-frame from a 6x9. Ha! :P
But, yes. A wide format alternative to 135 is what I see. Makes for a nice difference.

Hi,
I saw an email from the site this morning pointing to a survey from Ricoh. So, I filled it out stating that I was interested in (a) a 100 MP 645 body or, better yet (b) a 150 MP 645 body. And with a $10k budget.
Not that I think it'll work, but it is worth a try. ;)

Hi,
Oh, No!
Film is a four letter word!
Fuji is a four letter word!
Fujifilm is eight letters, but made up from two four letter words!
Oh, well. Doesn't matter to me.
Nice shot. :)

Hi,
Well, I think the posting of shots from a GFX using Pentax lenses is perfectly fine. Especially those from any of the 100 MP models.
And now I shall ask a rhetorical question: Where is the Pentax 100 MP MF body?
Of course none here know. All we know is there isn't one.
I have been waiting for a few years now, continuing to use my ancient 645D. I really don't want to bother with a 50 MP when I could go further with a 100 MP. But, my patience will have an end. And then what? A Fuji 100 MP GFX of some model, that's what. And I'll keep on using my Pentax 645 and 67 lenses with it. I'd rather not, but there it is,
As far as film goes, that's fine here as well as long as it is MF film. My hat's off to all who shoot film and scan it. I'll tip it twice for anyone who scans their film with a 100 MP Fuji GFX, as some do. I, however, will likely never shoot film again. Not even though there are film cameras still here, one of which is a 6x7 MLU. Film is long over for me. But then I began my switch over to digital in 1999. Once the calendar hit 2003, I was done with film. That was when I picked up my first MF digital, a Contax 645 with a Kodak Pro Back Plus.

Hi,
Nice sailboats. Reminds me of this absolutely huge backlit print Kodak had up in Grand Central Terminal once upon a time.

Hi,
Nice.
Every time I see that hi rise with the angled top, I think of Summer on Whiteface Mountain in NY. In June, when the days are the longest, for a week or so either side of the longest day of the year, we see the sun setting reflected off that top. It looks like we live in a binary system. even if the day is hazy, we see that extra sun to the North. ;)

Hi,
I always like the shots of this river. Reminds me of the Sacandaga in the Adirondacks in New York. That is, as opposed to the Cape Fear river which passes by the farm here in North Carolina. The rivers here are muddy. Any shot I'd take would look like it was a river of coffee....

Hi,
I chose the A*300 and both TCs. The 1.4x does well, the 2x not so much. Which, has been my experience with several brands of 2x TCs on small format.
My A*300 came with an aftermarket tripod mount, so that makes a difference.

Hi,
Sorry for my delay in responding. That four letter word popped up. Work. :P
I see the pics now in both posts.
They were worth the wait!

Hi,
I get a partial loading on all, just strips across the top of the frames and then they quit loading.
Same on the repost as well as the original.,

Hi,
I am sitting here thinking of another S word.....
Same number of letters. Keep the S. Change the T to an L. Keep the A. Change the two Fs to V and E.
There you have it.
Oh, and get rid of the DER in underpaid while we're at it....

I worked very hard to eliminate these things. Talk about spreading disease. ;)
i figured we (at Ericsson) had pretty much managed that by the time we released the T68. Which, BTW, was the first to sport a camera option. Then we combined the phone and the PDA and, well, we all know where that has gone.
And, now the pay phones are gone.

Hi,
Looks to me like the mounting frame is putting a little pressure on the corners and top edge of the LCD panel.

Hi,
I bought a 645D for $1600 three years ago. And a bag full of lenses for under $300 each. I had been eyeballing a used Nikon D850 and that would have cost me more than the entire MF kit.
MF affordable, indeed. And, now the 645Z has come down nicely as well. :)

Hi,
This reminds me of spots in rivers here in the US where I've done the same thing. One on the Sacandaga River in the Adirondacks (New York State) where I used to live. The other on the Cape Fear River here in North Carolina where I live now. Always a lot of fun in those Natural Jacussi spots.

Hi,
I'd jump on a 645Z upgrade with the 100 MP Sony sensor. I'd like to see the physically larger, not quite 645 full frame, 150 MP sensor even more. If I was in the Pentax R&D group, I'd be pushing for both. But, while I am in R&D, it isn't with Pentax. So all I can do is post my thinking. ;)
If anyone from P R&D happens to read this, note the word: Jump. :)
I'd prefer either upgrade over buying a GFX100s.....

Hi,
If I were buying today, I'd still go for a MF 50 MP class over a FF 50 MP class. I mostly print at a 5:4 ratio and I have to crop significantly fewer pixels from a 4:3 format than I do a 3:2 format.
Now, when I decided, back in 2020, I opted for a far lower cost used 645D than a used 645Z. Today, the Z is far lower cost than it was then yet the D isn't much lower cost. So, I'd buy the Z.
As it is, I really want a 100 MP MF sensor. Not so much for the greater resolution as the BSI design. And that pretty much means a Fujifilm GFX 100s. But with an adapter for all these Pentax 645 ad 67 lenses I have. A minus is I lose the AF capability for some of my lenses. A plus is I can gain shift from the adapter.
I'd rather see a Pentax 645 with a 100 MP sensor (or, better yet, the 150 MP one) but that doesn't seem like it will happen.

Hi,
In the FWIW dept, as a forum member, I read it as Brand Bashing as well.
But, I accept that I mis-read your intention. Which, is all too easy to do with written, as opposed to spoken, words.
Back to the concept of the 645 series, I had thought that we'd have seen at least a 100 MP variant by now. If not a 150 MP variant. Or both. If I were a part of Pentax R&D, that's what I would have pushed for. Both 100 and 150 Sony sensors. I'm in R&D all right, just not with Pentax.
And I'm about ready to buy a 100 MP MF camera. My plan is for second quarter of this year, which is what it has been for a year now.
I'd rather buy a Pentax 100 MP DSLR than another brand 100 MP mirthless and an adapter.....
Ha! Mirthless. That's what autocorrect turned Mirrorless into. :P
