Item Description
Hi,

Unfortunately I will be selling my K1ii. Despite it being an absolute powerhouse, and me absolutely loving shooting with it, I'm now trying to scale down my gear due to other factors in my life, and unfortunately this one has to go.
I am the second owner, the camera is from 2017 (with receipt from Amazon).

Everything is in great condition and in perfect working order. The only sign of wear on the body is a paint chip on the bracket that holds the screen, visible in the picture below. I live in Denmark, so this will be easiest for any european buyers, but I will surely ship world wide. I have a K&F photo-backpack that I will put all in the gear in (for extra protection), before packing it down in a box. So you get the bag as a bonus :)

I also have a Pentax 30120 M42 adapter (with box) that can be included for 25USD.

-K1ii camera body
-Pentax D-FA 24-70/2.8
-Samyang 85/1.4
-DA 50/1.8
-Pentax 135/2.5 Bayonet
-Yungnuo YN560iii flash
-Shipped in a K&F backpack + cardboard box

Thank you all for your inputs!
I will try this out, however I am pretty sure that I shot the lens in 'M' also, yet it would not stop down when taking the shot.

Setting the aperture on the 135mm f/2.5 bayonet

Hi all,

I recently bought the 135/2.5 bayonet lens to use on my K1ii.

I know this lens does not have any contacts and that I have to use it manually - that's fine - what I don't understand is why I can't adjust the aperture using the aperture ring on the lens.

When the lens is off-camera, I can adjust just fine. When I put it on the body the aperture opens up, like with the aperture pin of the old M42 lenses.

Do I need to modify the lens somehow? There's no M/A switch on the lens.

I bought the dreaded 135mm f/2.5 bayonet, actually quite like it. Sure it's no king fully open, but oh well, at 135mm subject separation is a non-issue.

What’s stopped me from getting a K1

This is interesting, however I fail to understand the point of this? Do you post this information to get counter arguments?

I'm by no means a Pentax disciple, quite literally moved from another system a few months ago. Just to get that context in there.

Ergonomics. They are partly subjective. Some like a big honking DSLR, others a rangefinder body, some like dial and program layout like the fujis, others the pres-turn combo of Nikon etc. etc. - you can't determine succesful ergonomic quantiutively as you can't measure it. That that ergonomics of a Pentax don't suit your needs, fair enough. But unless your issues are idiosyncrasies, they can't really count as a real argument for others to follow.

Speed of Operation. Do you mean frames per second? Fair enough, the FPS of the K1/K1ii is low and the buffer is useless. If you shoot sports, fast action etc.

AF Performance. It's not brilliant, I'll give you that. Compared to a Sony A9 is absolute pants. But then again, the K1 isn't geared towards that segmet, if you look at the features that Pentax did invest in. Astrotracer, pixelshift, great illumination for night photography etc. - and remember the price point.

Sensor. Check DXOmark. It's a great sensor. It may share its sensor with some of the Nikon D8XX-series, but not the processing. A sensor is just a cluster of photosites, like a solar panel. How the readouts are interpreted, that's where the difference is.

-

That you prefer the look of the output of a certain camera is absolutely fair enough - I have my preferences also - with Fujifilm having some of the best colors I have seen, expecially the aging X-T1. However, the color reproduction is not all that important in my opinion - most photographers who invest time and money into a dedicated system will post-process to their liking anyway. Big question is whether the 'default' aligns a little or a lot with your wanted end-result.

So for some input, let me tell you why I did get a K1ii. Not trying to beat an old horse, but perhaps it could put some things into perspective.
-Great ergonomics. Thats subjective, but I like the button layouts, the wheel-combo and a big, honking DSLR (after shooting mirrorless for a few years, and DSLR and SLRs for years prior to switching)
-Good weatherresistance.

-Some interesting lenses to choose from, I love shooting vintage stuff, and the confirmation beep works great in the OVF.
-Dynamic range, which was an upgrade from my past Fuji and Nikon cameras.
-It was a steal, so price was also a factor
-Its suits my kind of photography. Landscape, street and general slow-moving stuff.

I would believe this has to do with phones being relatively simple devices to IP certify as the amounts of ports and openings are limited.
USB-C is easily sealed for water. Speakers are fitted with rubber membranes. Phones are glued together these days so the general structure of the phone is also sealed off.

I certainly wouldn't want to be tasked with guaranteeing a camera being sealed against getting hosed down with water - waay to many ports, and having a moving seal (fragile lip seal against flat surface) on the lens which will undoubtedly wear down over time pretty much guarantees that it won't last long enough to give the customer any kind of warranty backing against a certification. I used to design brake resistors for the off shore industry, getting those IP certified wasn't hard, but requires the company to be willing to back up their claims - and cameras are just not very suited for that. It can be done, but I doubt most customers would take the extra cost of manufacture and extra bulk of properly sealing all ports (latched door, proper o-ring seal in all cases) to make it happen.

The WR on the K1 seems quite good - but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the rubber flaps are not exactly structurally sensible in the scenario that your cameras is soaked completely, or worse, under water pressure from a hose.

So I agree completely. The WR is good enough for me not to worry about walking around in light rain with it for x amount of minutes to get the shots, which is what I really need.

This is what I miss the most moving from Fuji to Pentax - the lenses. The 56/1.2, 16/1.4 and 35/1.4 are just amazing and are really not that expensive - I had a really good kit second hand, and to be honest, for the sharpness they provide (wide open), I can't see any similar Pentax lens coming close in that same budget range.

Shot with one of my favorite Takumars, the 24/3.5. I really like the close focusing distance.
Not all that crazy about the lens for landscapes, which was actually what I got it for, but for things close-up or within a few meters it's very good. I really like the rendering from this although, although bokeh aficionados will probably say it's too busy.

Got one relativelty expensive (150USD), but it was completely mind, had no signs of ever being mounted judging from the M42 threading and flange. Nevertheless, it was mounted to the K1 within a minute after receiving it :D

By far one of my favorite lenses for the x-mount system. Rendition was just insane.

That's a real shame. I'm new to the Pentax system (former Konika, NIkon and Fuji user) and out of the 24-70 2.8, Samyang 85mm 1.4, 50 1.8 and a collection of Takumar glass, the Samyang/Rokinon 85mm 1.4 is a lens I really love using. It has some vintage-like characteristics and it razor sharp stopped down to F/2.

People can think whatever they want about third party products - but competion and diversity is always good for the consumer.

Definitely Fuji. Having shot Minolta and NIkon prior to that, before moving on to Pentax.

Fujis interface is awesome and the images look great. The lenses are relatively cheap and the whole system is nice and compact.

It does indeed! I wasn't sure how the vented hood would suit a DSLR, but I think it fares quite well :) I have however ordered a good for a wider lens, since it does chop the corners a bit!

Now that's not fair... :D

It's too late my friend.. I've taken quite a few Takumars off the hands of a certain guy in Fredericia who sells some vintage lenses he imports. The GAS is already in full effect!
But it HAS slowed down somewhat, it's just tough with so many great options :)
